Got tagged in the rear end the other day trying to pull into the parking lot at work. Guy in a Ford Aspire wasn't paying attention. Needless to say he caught the worst of it since he went under my bumper (and I have a 2" dop shackle installed). I still need a new bumper though. The guy wants to settle outside of insurance, so I figure I'll give the guy a break and work with him. I still reported it to my insurance so they have a record of it (just in case he decides to back out), but they said they won't do anything about it unless I file a claim. The Ford dealership quoted my $880 installed for a new chrome bumper, the structural piece underneath (2 piece bumper?) and the two plastic covers on top. This sounds very high compared to some of the online prices I have seen for the bumper. Does anybody make an aftermarket bumper for the 2001 Supercrews? I want to consider other options before I go and get a factory one. I considered a roll pan, but I think I want a bumper just in case this happens again. People drive like a bat out of hell in front of where I work.
