Need ideas for 2003 F150 Super Crew

Hello everyone,

I have a 2003 Super Crew XLT 4x2 Triton V8. With 8172 miles
Asphalt Grey on Grey.

About the only things that I have done to it so far are: added vent visors and a soft cover with snaps on the back.

This is my first truck traded in the mini van for it.

I was wanting to know if you could start over and be in my shoes what would you do first to your truck?

I have been looking on the forum and I am thinking of doing the acetone to the badges next.

We are currently stationed in Hawaii and it seems like once I got the truck back in Oct. 2002 everyone is now driving them. I would like to get some good ideas that will help make the truck look not like it just rolled off the lot without breaking the bank or my hubbys wallet.

Thanks ahead of time for any ideas.

Welcome to the board,
Congrats on the new truck. I have a similar truck that I just started over with. Since it is a 2wd like mine I didn't want to go with the bigger tires, lift etc. I would get a bug deflector, maybe some bed rails and new tailights, or headlights, or corners. That would give it a nice look.

A custom grille is always a nice touch. There are alot of different styles out now, as well as some personal mods that can be done to them to make them even more unique.
I have a Stull billet grille with every other pair of bars painted black. Haven't seen any others in town like it.

Another idea might be a 2000 mustang GT hood scoop. Look up a guy on here by the name of Neil the HP Freak, he has had a few in the recent past, and may still have some...nice addition, very reasonably priced.

other good DIY ideas....

- remove the side door moldings for a clean look
- 04 fender badges, only like 15 bucks each from dealer

best of luck

I have another question though.

We are going to be shipping the truck in Sept. of this year we are heading to Ft. Lewis, Washington.

The bed is not lined yet. I would like to get it lined before it gets on the boat.

What would you recommend:

Rhino Liner

Lava Liner

Or get a drop in from Ford

There is always a stroller in the back. We have 3 kids (ages 5, 3 ,2). Tired of hearing it roll around.

Or if you can rec. anyone on the Island of Oahu would be great too.

Thanks Again

I don't have any experience with the various drop-ins and spray in liners out there...just to throw another idea at ya, maybe a bedrug might be your thing?

or you could go the real inexpensive route and get a couple long pieces of rope and use the tie-downs in the bed to secure the stroller

Rope option

LOL about the rope idea. I would probably end end up using it to tie the kids up. Just kidding.

I would like to get it lined though to avoid any deep scratches though.

Picture

Just took this pic. It is raining though so the truck is wet.
Just to give an idea of the colors.

After looking at the pic, i would put on a nice set of chrome nerf bar steps. Mine look really nice and are functional too.

Rims

Thinking about asking hubby to change the rims and the grill when we get to Washington state.

People and some companys just seem to charge way to much to ship stuff to Hawaii.

Just ordered a decal off ebay for the rear tailight above the window. When you step on the break it will glow Ford. I thought it looked pretty cool.

My hubby just laughed and said "You are not gonna make this a chick truck are you?" I told him " No it will not be a chick truck but I do drive it more than 95% of the time and I believe a truck reflects the owner" LOL " When I get done with the truck you will still be able to drive it and have your head held high, but when they comment on the truck you better step up and say my wife did it all."

Thanks for all the posts everyone.

Drop that a$$!!!!! No seriously, a 2" drop in the rear helps level the truck out, not to mention makes it easier to put things in the bed.

Another vote for Line-X liner!!!

New wheels would probably be the biggest and most noticeable improvement you could make.

Line X

Well gonna have to wait to get the bed lined until we get back to the states. There is only 1 Line-X in Hawaii. And our luck it is on a different island. So gonna have to make a pit stop in California and get it lined before we drive to Washington.
Thanks for the info.

Ditto on the drop and level her out.

My vote would be rims and tires......18's or 20's. I am sure the lightning guys can recommend a good combo.
