Question for Neal.....
Question for Neal.....
Hey Neal, I hope you get a chance to read this....while doing a search on aftermarket hoods, I found a thread regarding you and your stock of mustang hood scoops....
I'm probably going to be putting a Goodmark Industries hood with it's option mustang gt-like scoop. as seen here:
I was just wanting to know what material you used to create the screen for the scoop, and where I could find some? Also, you had mentioned in that thread that there were differences in the mustang scoops depending on the year it was made....can you let me know what the differences are, and what years are associated with those differences? pictures would be awesome.
If you have any additional info, how-to-attach, etc..feel free to email it to buckfu2@yahoo.com....I greatly appreciate your help.

That hood looks crazy. How much would a paint job like that cost me with that hood. I've been thinking about cervini ram air hood myself with speed grill. Is a metal hood any better that fiberglass. Would it be heavier. I know the aluminum one from the factory seems to dent kinda easy. I got a few tiny dents in it that aren't noticable unless you look at an angle. With fiberglass would you have the denting problem.
I'm not sure on the weight of this goodmark hood, however I'm not really concerned with weight since I have a 4x4 screw
It is mainly for cosmetics. It's the only steel hood I've found that I actually like.
I think I read somewhere that it might be 20lbs heavier than a fiberglass hood..not sure.. no idea what that paintjob cost in the photo I referenced but it is indeed a sweet truck. I found it whild searching this site.
it seems to me that some of the scoops are more rounded and lower profile than others. that is why I hope Neal pops in and helps clarify the differences between the scoops. I think the scoop in the picture is the optional one for the goodmark hood, rather than one off of a Mustang GT....

Hey buckfu, not sure but this may help. I just purchased a mustang scoop from Neal. As far as I can tell the goodmark hood uses its own scoop to go with the hood. The scoops Neal has are from mustangs and look very similar to the one shown, I think slightly lower. If one of these are installed it will not look as high on the stock hood as it does not have the indentation under the scoop and there for really doesnt need a screen. Neal did mention some differences in older and newer scoops, but the ones Neal has are all newer. I saw all he had, went and picked it up in person.
I should have mine painted and installed by this weekend and will post pics then. Also mine will be functional as a ram air hood as I will be building air duct from the hood to a modified stock air box. This will not happen by this weekend though, hoping to have it done in a couple weeks.
Must say though, that goodmark hood in the pic does look kick a$$.

thanks sleddogg.
Yeah I thought of the fact that if the stock hood is used the scoop inlet will of course look much smaller, but better to bring it up, rather than not.
The scoop you bought from Neal, is it more rounded than the one shown in the photo above? I wonder if it would be wide enough to go over the indented scoop on the goodmark hood. (I'm planning on a GTF150 style makeover on mine) If you have an email for Neal, I'd like to send him a quick email about his scoops..might buy one if he has any left.
I would be VERY interested in seeing your ram air setup. If you plan to take photos or do a writeup about it, please email it to buckfu2@yahoo.com.
I still have my stock airbox parts so I could make use of it!

Buckfu Here are some pics of the scoop in primer.
The last one is just setting on the hood for size reference.
Cant name a price but for the scoop and to have it painted will cost me about $125. lot cheaper than a new hood.
Also I think his nic on here is roush1fan or roushfan1, dont remember which. He has a pic of one mounted on his truck.
Neal had quite a few when I was at his place so he should have some left.
I will document the install, hopefully this weekend. The custom air intake will be a couple weeks down the road.
I think they look pretty sharp and should look good when installed. Check your mail for Neals address.
Hopefully will post more this weekend.
