toying with small custom job - your thoughts

Winter is such a time for allowing the brain to manifest all kinds of ideas for modding the truck, and I was toying in photoshop, with an idea for my truck, based off of a GT F150 project truck located on another ford truck site....tell me what you think:

Currently:

Concept:

basically it'd be a slight lowering of the body, side stripes, and the two main body stripes that run from the grille through the hood, cab, tonneau, and down the back end of the truck. I'd be removing the fender flares, and also putting on a Keystone GT hood with the functional ram air kit. as seen here:
https://www.f150online.com/galleries...3463-59766.jpg (this is Harley#356's truck)

(the silver piece under the headlights would be painted to match as well as the foglight surround)

what ya think? I'd really like to give it some new ink, in a deep dark blue, but I'd most likely be sticking with the original black to keep cost down.

I like the F-150 side stripe. The rest is a personal preference thing.
Is there a company that makes a side strip like this?
Thanks for the info and have fun moding your truck.

I've always been a fan of the stripe at the bottom like that but, I think I'd leave the flares on... just me.

Nice idea!

I'm unsure of if there is a striping kit available. I will have to talk to my local paint shop and see what they think as well.

Not really sure as to how much to lower the truck......maybe just half the distance that it sits at currently. I'm not very familiar with the various lowering kits out there, so that's something I have to research a little more as well....

If I were to leave em on, what would you suggest I do about the ends, where the stripes would go under the flare? I'm not sure what would look best...

- paint the upper portion of the flare black and the bottom edge silver to match the height of the two-tone and continue the stripes.

- leave em as is

- paint em all black

not sure what would look best, so that is why I thought to take em off....

I like your ideas, but I would just paint the flares black, and let the stripes go under them. If you remove them you've got all those little holes to fill... and I like the look of them to begin with...

I like that strip to, it really makes the rest of the truck look great. I wish that I could get one on my truck.

YEA! YEA! I always thought I wanted a solid black truck, and have loved my truck until I saw that picture... Can you try to do the same with my truck??? Same stripes on the hood, and the side???

I know it's kinda dark, but I can a better if you'd like... That is cool!

I just might have to see what it would take to get this done! I hope you don't mind me stealing your idea??? but damn, that looks good! I can't believe I'm getting so excited over stripes. So, would you guys recommend paint or vinyl? A good friend of a good friend does vinyl, and could probably get me a deal...

ha ha, no I don't mind at all! I'm not the first to do it, and we'll definitely not be the last!

but I'll let ya make it up to me by passing on yer buddies good deal to me too!

I'm not sure if I'll be doing paint or vinyl...I sent a quote off to these guys as well:

If I get that hood, which I will....I'll most likely have to go with paint, because I can't see vinyl going on smoothly around those nooks and crannys of the twin scoops.

Let me know what you here from those guys, and I'll see what I can find out from my buddy...

I'm kind of thinking about "SPORT" instead of "F150" though since I've got F150 on the fenders, and I pealed the "SPORT" decals off the bed...

Dang I wish I was that good with PS. I've got it just not don't know much. I've got a book on it, and my GF's roommate is a graphic artist that uses it... I'm going to have to study up on it... any quick pointers?

well I've been using it for a while, as a graphic/web designer myself, but am still no where near the skills of bmwbig6...now that guy knows his way around photoshop!

I just use a lot of layers, play transparency and other layer attributes..it's a lot of trial and error till ya find what works. For making the quick stripes I just used the pen tool and then played with the styles...nothing major hardest thing is getting your lines smooth...
