Question Should I just wing it?

Guys and gals, I am so torn. I need some feedback from the masses. I just won an A.R.E. fiberglass tonneau for the truck off of Ebay. It currently has a rather small wing on the back looks like a Keystone product. Here is a link to it so you all can look at it and give me an honest opinion.

Now a large part of me thinks WTF would I ever want or need one of those on my tonneau for and yet a smaller but nagging portion of me thinks maybe it would look good on the truck.

I drop it off at the paint shop later on today so feedback would be nice.

Thanks for the opinions

It kinda looks like a wing off of a GM F body to me?

I'd keep it, I think it would look good on your truck.

Maybe you can tie the tonneau's lock into the tailgate lock too? Would be slick to have both lock and unlock at the same time.

Good luck.

Just me but, I'd chop it.

You're probably going to have to have someone paint it correct? If so, you can have the wing removed, the bolt holes 'bondo'd' and sanded and painted.

Just my two cents...

Keep it, I think trucks look real slick with them. Several guys around town have one on their covers and I want one so bad, but $1000 is not easy to come by.

i say keep it, its not distasteful, and its not a bad thing for a front heavy rear wheel drive vehicle.

Well Guys I had to remove it to get the tonneau painted, Dropped it off today I got a chance to see it on the truck in both with and without mode. I must say that for the body style I have it helps to sport it up tremendously. I know thatone the standard cabs the wing looks just as good on as it does off but from seeing on the extended version I think it looked better on. Oh well, I will get a better idea of what it is going to look like once I get them back. I seperated them at least so I would have the option to go with or without. All I will have to do is redrill the bondo'd holes to remount it.

Overall, I think I got a great deal on the cover total money spent for wing, cover and sand and repaint comes out to a whopping $455. So I am absolutely stoked abut it. I figure hey once they are painted I can set the wing in place and make a better decision anyway and if I don't use the wing I can sell it. Although I am pretty sure I will be using it. I will update my pics later so you guys can take a look at it.

LePew,
I already have every intention of converting the cover to an auto locker as well. Just gotta decide how I am going to go about doing it. This thing locks much like a camper top window with the slide bars. I am sure I can figure something out

Thanks for the feedback!
