shifter ****

Hey everyone,

Was wondering if it is possible to remove the shifter **** from a 2002 styleside manual? Any tips on if or how this can be done would be great

rjp,

Based on my '03, it doesn't look like Ford has changed the design recently. It is identical to my '96, which after 50K miles began to pop off when I shifted! The **** is not attached by anything other than friction. It doesn't screw on. It just slides on the end of the shift lever. Don't ask me how to get it off, but I would assume brute strength!

Question

On that note, what are you looking to replace you stock shifter with. All I seem to find are "universal replacements". I would really like to find something similar to the 35th Anniversary Mustang shift ****. I have the one I bought for my old mustang, but it obviously doesn't fit!

yea, would be nice to find a good looking (not ricey) ****. I have to keep supergluing mine back on.

Just pull on it hard enough and it will come off.
