Hood To Be Painted????
I ORDERED A COBRA TYPE HOOD FOR MY 2003 FORD LIGHTNING PICKUP I THINK THE HOOD LOOKS GOOD I HAVE SEEN IT ON TRUCKS LIKE JERRY JORDAN MY TRUCK IS RED I WAS WONDERING WHAT THE GOING RATE FOR SANDING AND PAINTING THIS TYPE OF HOOD NOT THAT IS A PROBLEM I JUST WANT THE BEST TO PAINT IT I HAVE HAD ONE PRICE QUOTE OF $742.50 THAT SEEMS HIGH TO ME THE HOOD IS FROM SPORT TRUCK DIRECT STEEL HOOD BUT SURELY IT DOESN'T COST $742.50 TO PAINT IT??? THANKS FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS ON THIS TOM
That is way high. It cost a little bit more, but you could get it done for $250 to 300. I know I got my ford lightning bumper painted for $250 and was quoted $300 at several places to repaint my tahoe's hood. You should be able to get a good job done for 300 dollars.
Invalid_access is right thats way too high
I only paid $300 and the guy sanded, prepped, etc. the hood and painted my lower front valance. You should certainly be able to get done and done nicely for $300-400 max. Hope that helps

way to high $742.50
THAT WAS MY THOUGHTS THAT IT WAS WAY TO HIGH I AM GOING TO GET SOME MORE BIDS FROM OTHER BODY SHOPS A HOOD OFF OF TRUCK SHOULD NOT BE HARD TO SAND AND PAINT IT COMES ALREADY PRIMERED BUT PROBLEY NEEDS TO BE SANDED THAT I UNDERSTAND THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS TOM/
If it is primered from the factory then you don't have to sand it. If they sand it then they will have to reprimer it. Don't make much sense. Most stuff comes from the factory with primer on it. They will probably just paint it and then go over it with clear coat.
you are correct no need to sand just paint and clear coat i still don't understand why they are so high in price for painting job/ thanks

If the $700 price involves blending in the front fenders, I would say thats probably in the ball park. Having said that, I can tell you my Cervini hood was painted for $400. Thats was without doing the fenders. I figured that if I didn't like the match, then I would go to the blended fenders route. There is a slight difference (Silver is a bitch) but I can live with it. Especially if I put the stock hood back on to sell

Yes that included blending in fenders and adjusting hood etc.
