Xenarcs install

Rock and the others convinced me to invest in Xenarcs!
Looking at the installation of the Xenarcs...
did you need to remove the radiator overflow to do the wiring light install?
Also the factory truck alarm sends flashes the headlights, with the xenarcs should I disable that feature? If you momentarily charge and recharge the capacitors I don't see that as doing good to the Xenarc system.
Any experiences?

What exactly are Xenarcs? Whats the difference between them and the lightening heads? Also anyone had any experience with the APC headlight assembly? It looks pretty cool... I like all clear.

Thanks.

Colby, the Xenarcs are true HID headlights (like BMW and Lexus install in their vehicles), and as such throw considerably more light than regular halogen headlights. They also throw light on a white wave length (as opposed to the yellow light thrown by stock halogens), which makes objects the light illuminates easier to see. I put Silverstar bulbs in my Lightning heads to try and improve on this issue, but the Xenarcs are still quite a bit brighter. I balked at Xenarcs for my truck some time back due to the price (I got my Lightning headlights 'and' marker lights 'and' Silverstar bulbs for less than the cost of the Xenarc Headlights alone). Since then, the price has come down continually. When it gets down to around $299.00 for a set, I'll make the jump myself. I think a number of folks on this board will as well.

As to the APC heads, I'd stay away from them. I've read a number of posts that noted they yellowed quickly and that their quality was less than great. Personally, I've found the quality of APC products overall to be poor.

Francis...

You don't have to remove the 'radiator overflow'. (which I'm not sure what you're talking about here but, I can assure you that you don't have to remove it).

It doesn't hurt the lights to pulse them. No one I know has 'disabled' the feature.

Seriously... it should take you around 15 minutes to install them. They are CAKE to install and you'll LOVE them.

Lemme see if I can take this one...

First, check out this pic.

The front assembly is the Lightning assembly. The rear, a Xenarc assembly. VERY VERY VERY little difference in looks.

And here's what they look like installed with the Lightning Corner lights (which really aren't that foggy looking... just the angle of the picture)

As BigDeal indicated, the Xenarcs are an HID (high intensity discharge) system very similar to that on the Lexus or BMW (among others). They put out a CONSIDERABLY MORE light compared to the stock halogens.

You can learn more about them here: http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/

I have SEVERAL more pictures in my gallery marked 'MODS MODS MODS'. The link to that gallery is in my signature line beneath this post.

Again, I can't stress enough how many times I've seen people talk about having their APCs replaced and/or have just removed them because of Yellowing.

The choice is yours.
