Tonneaus

A few questions about Tonneau covers...

I have a Flareside bed by the way:

1) Is 800 for a Leer with paint and installation too much? This is the price at the local custom truck shop.

2) What lids work with the Cervinis tailgate spoiler? Seems like several either wouldnt work right or wouldnt even fit.

3) Whats the best lid for the money?

I want a hard fiberglass tonny. It has to cover the gray plastic bed caps, has to lock, & has to have some kind of shock or hinge that will hold it up.

Thanks for any help...

I have had a Leer for almost 5 years and to date have no complaints with the overall construction.

As far as price, they list for $1200 in Canada so in your area I would think 700 to 800 should be reasonable.

Another option is ARE.

Whichever way you go my only reco is to make sure there is a gasket/trim around the outside edge. If not the fibreglas can chip at the edges.

Have a good close look at the Snuglid SL from Snugtop. The hinge mechanism and the details of construction make it one of the best currently. In my general area I've gotten two price quotes, one at $999 and one at $902. Those are painted to your paint code and installed. Snugtop claims they have a keyless remote option for the SL but it is not yet available. Also, the SL uses one keyed lock in the center rear on the top of the cover instead of two, one on each rear corner.

Does the snug lid cover the gray plastic on the sides of the bed? Any pics? I was quoted at 800 for the leer tonneau painted, installed, and they said that they would put racing stripes on my truck free of charge.

I've got a Lowrider (made by Raider) fiberglass cover...has all the features you wanted and I got it for $650 painted and installed. Easy on, easy off...about five minutes to remove/install...

Just my $.02 worth...

I'll check those out...

Will both or either of those cover the gray plastic bed rails & work with a cervinis spoiler?

That looks good, not fat and bulky like most I've seen. I will have to look into that one. Thanks for the info.

Eposey,

The locks will lock the cover down to the bed. They are located in each corner right by the tailgate. I've got a Snugtop that covers the side rails and the top of the tailgate. It has rubber seals around the edges. The front mounting bracket along with the side/support mounting brackets are held in by clamps, so there is no drilling.

I picked it up Santa Maria CA for $750. I thought it was money well spent.

Dave

I just got the snugtop SL installed yesterday (their newest and best tonneau cover). It is awesome. Takes no effort to open or close, opens like your car hood (i.e. gas shocks), has a clamp system (no drilling), has the under cover rug, and low profile. So far I'm happy with it

I saw that dealer locater, but the closest one is 219 miles away in Nashville. Any links to online vendors that actually will ship it? Also trying to find one for the Lowrider lid.

I am going to ask around a few truck shops that I know of this weekend and see if I can find one for cheaper than what I was quoted at the shop I went to.
