Why do they call them " Nerf Bars ?"

 

so when you hit them with your shin you have something nice to say around the kids

nurf bars tuck under the truck, like the HD's have, and are just for looks.
step bars are for stepping on. not sure when people started calling step bars nurf bars, and nurf bars step bars, but there's a difference, and not sure where the name came from
