Question Steel Horse Billet Grill

Can anyone give me some insight on a billet grill inset from Steel Horse. Good Quality? Easy to install? Can I leave the original emblem?
Thanks in Advance,
Jim

that looks nice as hell...i was wondering if i should keep the chrome trim around the headlights or get a paint-matched unit..that set-up you have looks great...that lower valance can be painted i hope? mine is oxford white so the black trim and stuff has gotta go, what do you recommend?

Here's mine right after I put it on, before the bumper cover, too. I've been happy with it, the black is beginning to fade a little, but it is going on two years. Every few months a hand polishing will keep it decent looking, with some Wenol polish, or Blue Magic metal polish. Both products
work very well on bare aluminum.,,,,98

billet grille

I have a putco billet and it was easy to install. I assume the steelhorse billet clamps on just like the putco or dj motor sport billets.

WLF...what are those chrome bars on the edges of your bed called exactly? Id like to get some on a screw if I knew what to ask for (without sounding as retarded as I do now)

I have been looking all day for a place to buy a Steel Horse (Carriage Works is my other choice) grill for my 97 with no luck, where did you get it at and do you remember the p/n?

Nice looking PU!

PS. Apparently I also need a different grill shell since mine is molded with the grill (97 F150). What do I look (year and/or description) for when I am trying to get a different grill shell that allows me to install a custom grill?

I'm guessing you have the chrome grill with the charcoal egg crate center? You can put a billet behind those, but you have to cut the original center out with a dremel or similar type tool.
As far as the grill, they used to, or still do, carry the 97/98's at Pep Boys, and it can be ordered through almost any auto parts store. They ALL have an aftermarket catalog, you just have to get the employees off their lazy butts to help you order it. Good Luck man.,,,,98

Yea! Thats what I have. Isn't that what you have? If not what's the differences? I want one just like yours but I am at a complete loss on where to get it or the differences between yours and mine.. If I have to buy a new one I will..

The painted grill surrounds have an insert which is held in by melted plastic tabs. I guess the honeycomb grill design was too intricate to make in one piece? The opening is also slightly smaller on the painted shells, which makes them look different. The chrome grill surrounds were a simpler design and could be molded all at once, no doubt to save money and time. My truck actually came with the complete chrome front end, grill and bumper both. I did the same thing you're planning to do. The grill surrounds are in the classifieds of this, and the "other" site all the time, and for decent prices usually. Most of the time under $150, or even under $100 if you're lucky. Good luck!,,,,98

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!
I had started to come to the conclusion that there were different grill surrounds but I just couldn't get any verification of this until you posted. I was going mad!

I will get one that had the honeycomb grill and use it instead of using mine so if anybody has one please let me know! kdslaby@yahoo.com

Thanks again for the quick response!

Regards
Kevin

No problem! Glad to help. My brother used to have one of the Pace Car Stangs, but it was a 4cyl. turbo. It was pretty peppy with that engine, I can imagine what the 302 feels like?!,,,,98
