Amp swapping/replacing???
I'm trying to figure out the best amp setup to use in the F-150, the Bronco, and the VW project car. The current setup is as follows:
F-150:
Alpine CD
Boston speakers RC 820 front and RX87 rear
JL stealthbox
orion 500.4 amp running 2 ohm stereo front, 3 ohm mono rear
Bronco:
Clarion CD/processor/etc.
Boston Pro 6.4 front speakers
kicker solobaric 10" (2 - 8 ohm in parallel)
PPI Ax606.2 using 2 of 6 channels
PPI A600 running 4 ohm mono
VW:
Panasonic CD
Boston RC520 front speakers
Boston competitor 10"
craptacular jensen amp (found in a box with my high school crap)
I also have a PPI Ax400 amp that needs repair (doesn't power up). I really don't like running the front and rear speakers in the F-150 at 2 ohms, and the bronco has 8 channels of amplification when it needs 4. The jensen amp in the bug has to go! I'm debating on buying a JL 500/5 amp for the F-150, or just swapping around the others I've got to make everything work.
The other PPI will cost $125 to fix, so I'm thinking I'd rather put that $125 towards a new amp instead of throwing money at a 6 year old amp. Maybe I can ebay the carcuss.
I had thought of putting the PPI Ax606.2 in the F-150, the orion 500.4 in the bug, buying a new 4 channel amp for the Bronco, and ebaying the A600. Or ebaying all the PPI stuff, buying a JL 500/5 for the F-150, 300/4 for the Bronco, and putting the orion in the bug.
The F-150 is the daily driver/trip truck, the Bronco is a wheeling truck that I sometimes drive to work, and the vw is a weekend cruiser.
Any ideas or recommendations? Anybody want to bitchslap me for being indecisive?
Thanks,
Mitch
