quick question regarding amp mount

I had an amp mounted yesterday in my truck, and the guy put it on a 3/4 inch piece of wood. The amp is mounted behind the rear plastic wall in my Screw, and with the wood, will not allow me to close the compartment door.

Is it neccessary to have it mounted to such a thick piece of wood? Could I use something thinner? here's what I thougt I'd do:

- Get some heavy duty velcro, and place two strips on the cab wall.

- place the two other strips on the wood mount and adhre it to the wall.

- use the amp screws and mount the amp to the thinner piece of wood.

- happily close the compartment door on my amp.

The 3/4" is not needed unless your amp is made of lead or something! Some people on here have even used short-fat screws and just screwed that into the carpet. I am using a piece of 1/4" plywood and my compartment door closes fine (I do have a very small amp, though). I attached the plywood with angle and straight brackets from the local hardware store to the metal hump at the top and the floor at the bottom behind the carpet.
