AMP Mounting '99 Ext Cab Captains Chairs

I am about to take the plunge and install an amp for my 99 XLT extended cab with captains chairs & center console.

Has anyone mounted their amplifier in the center console on a Ext Cab with Captains Chairs? It looks like there's room if the amp is small enough, but heat may be a problem? How would I get the wires to/from this area?

All help is appreciated.

Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!The heat will really be a problem. I have the same setup like you with Capt. Chairs. Wait a day or so. I will be posting pic. of my equipment. I mounted My Alpine Amp under my seat. I'll show you what I did with my center console. It is still fully functional.

I have the captain's chairs in a reg cab. I put my amps under the seats. I put my cd-changer in the center console. I guess that mounting the amps under the front seats could be a problem with rear seat passengers feet being so close, but it depends on their size (amps and feet) . Here is the link to my page so you can see how I worked it.

I've seen someone on this site that has an ext. cab and mounted an amp under the drivers seat, but I can't remember who.

Best of luck,
