Audio upgrade help!
Hi,
looking for help.
I have a 2011 SCREW, base sound system with SYNC. I want to upgrade my audio. nothing crazy, just a good improvement.
I was wondering if there is anything wrong with this setup? i don't understand if i can mix and match speakers with different OHMS, 2 vs 4 etc. Here is what i'm going to pull the trigger on. Can anybody see any RED FLAGS with this combination? I'll be using the PAC AOEMFRD24 LOC to keep my SYNC system. Not sure if the amp will have enough power, or if i'll have to run it full gain to notice a difference, etc.
front door. Infinity 6829 CF components
Back Door: Infinity 6832 coax.
5 channel amp: Kenwood 7005 PS
sub+ box. Loaded but no built in AMP.

Any assistance will be much appreciated! I notice that the sub is 4 OHM, but the speakers are 2OHM. Will the amp run 2 OHM on the speakers, and 4 OHM on the sub at the same time? I understand OHM is a resistance measurement, but i want to make sure i don't blow up and amp or anything

Decent choice on door speakers and the box is good quality, however definitely not the best sub and probably one of the worst brands of amps out there. For a decent 5 channel amp to run all that you'll be looking at more like 350+, you might be better off getting a separate 4 channel amp for the speakers, and then a mono amp for the sub.
Yea best buy and places like that are highly over-priced too. I'd stay away from crutchfield because of their prices also, I generally just use them for info. Rockford, Kicker, Audioque, JL, and even Hifonics if your on a budget are good brands for amps.
Thanks for the responses.
Can you advise on this? the speakers are 2ohm. the sub is 4 ohm.
so the spec's show this on the amp.
4 Ohms: 40 Watts X 4 Chan. + 300 Watts X 1 Chan.
2 Ohms: 50 Watts X 4 Chan. + 500 Watts X 1 Chan.
Will the amp run 50 watts x 4 @ 2 ohms PLUS 300 watts x1 for sub @ 4 ohms? I understand OHMs aren't a output measurement on the amp, but a resistance measurement on the speakers. I didn't know if there is a problem mixing ohm speakers on the same amplifier.

In all honesty, that setup will work quite well. dont worry about the ohm rating on the speaker levels. That cant be changed. Sub is one channel it will do fin as well. What matters is this, YES it will work. YES it will sound good. I say pull the trigger. ALSO, please make sure you get your self a good amp install kit, at very least true OFC copper wire at a minimum 4 gauge, and some sheilded quality RCAs.
Thanks for the response! I've got the speakers already, waiting for the amp. The hardware cost out the door was $356. Excluding install and AMP kit. I'll post my review on everything after it is installed.
Any thoughts on AMP kit? I don't mess with installs so i'll have bestbuy do it. I figure they'll just pick one out of their store.

By the time i read your first reply i had already ordered the KAC 7005 Kenwood amp. I'll go ahead and try it out. I figure if i feel like i need more power, i'll upgrade in 6 months - 1year or so.
I took it upon myself to install the rear speakers. Taking off the doors wasn't too much of a pian after watching a youtube video on it a few times. They sound great! much more crisp! And i can actually hear aspects of the music that i wouldn't normally with the factory speakers.
The volume is less than the factory speakers, but i assume because i'm running higher end speakers off the weak head unit. Once i get my PAC AOEM in, I'll be finishing the speaker install and amping them. I can't wait!!!!

Much better choice than the kenwood, its rockford's budget line, but it's still rockford. Which means cleaner power, it'll do rated power and possibly a little more, and it'll be more quality over the kenwood.
If you don't mind buying used, you can generally pick those up for a pretty good price on ebay.
