Run a H.O. alt. and an Isolator and multiple batteries. One primary battery for the truck and it's components and multiple batteries for the stereo alone. I have done this in the past and have had good results and no headlight dimming. Powerbastard 220 amp part number 7776-220-HD16-12 with standard group 65 Batt for the truck and 2 x 1000 CCA batteries for the stereo. The isolator will charge all batteries but keep the stereo from robbing power from the trucks electrical system. Hook up the stereo main to the dual batts. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Wouldn't just lets say 250 amp alt. I like the Mechmans with good output at 500 rpm and full at 1700 rpm .Would this not due the trick ?Along with what I got now? I only dip below 14.7 on Idle never even hit 12s always 13s with heavy volume. Not sure I want to add a second or third battery .Seems over kill for what I run .

well at 12 volts your system will pull in the neighborhood of 175 amps RMS and when cranked up will pull more. The batteries will buffer the power draw from the alternator and produce cleaner sound. The more readily an amp can cycle power the cooler it wil run. something like this will help modulate power and remove power spikes. There are plenty of people that have done stereo installs and each will tell you what works for them. there is after all more than one way to skin a cat. http://www.ebay.com/itm/STINGER-SHC5...item1e6db80ce2
or this one is good as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/80-Farad-Abs...item336d145887

Sorry, I have been crazy busy. High output Alt. with the cap. The cap will modulate and absorb power spikes from the alt thus assisting the amps to stay cooler and produce cleaner sound.

Indeed,http://singeralternators.com/ Mikes Singers 230 alt did the trick .Had mine done in black .Install took about a 1 hr .75% power heavy bass song (Peanut Butter and Jelly) on the HU never got below 14.4 volts and at only sitting at Ideal .Amp light/eq light dimming is gone . Mike kept up with me by email the whole build .Even gave me a company T-shirt and decals .If your in the market for a H.O .I say call Mike he can't be beat !!!!!!!!!! [IMG]
