Question on wiring two amps

I am looking to add a second amp to my current setup. Currently I have a amp to power my door speakers with kicker 4 gauge power wire. I was looking online for a install kit, yet remembered I have some left over four gauge wire. So do I just buy a distribution block? Have my power wire of four gauge coming in, than use the left over four gauge wire to power the amps and ground them? I know I need another set of RCA's and another remote wire for the second amp and have those. If I could just buy the distribution block for $20 rather than $80 for a amp wiring kit. Just thinking out loud hear. My door speakers amp is 600 watt RMS, sub amp RMS would be 600 also. Looking online some say my current four gauge wire is good for a 1,000 RMS watts other say it is good for 1500 watt RMS. 200 watts shouldn't keep blowing the fuse? My door speaker amp I have turned down to 40%.

Also how much depth is behind the rear seat? My amps would be roughly 2-3/8" tall once mounted to a board and installed. Going to sound deaden the back wall and remove the factory carpet around the amps.

So do I have the correct way to wire in two amps without any issues? Also enough room behind the back seat to install my amps on the wall?

Thanks!

Distro block will work just fine. Just make sure that the fuse in that line is not smaller than the total of the fuses in the 2 amps your running. Also I would look into a capacitor. The good ones will have a distribution block built right into the top of them. Like this one http://gotwirez.com/acc_tech_capacitor.html

My main in line fuse is 100, my amp total fuse would be 140, looks like going to have to upgrade to 0 gauge....*^%#!

Yup your gomna have to do a run of 1/0 or two runs of 4 gauge. The wire going to the distro block should always be bigger than the two wires coming off it. And don't get a capacitor, they're completely worthless.

Wire Gauge Recommended
Maximum Fuse Size
00 awg 400 amps
0 awg 325 amps
1 awg 250 amps
2 awg 200 amps
4 awg 125 amps
6 awg 80 amps
8 awg 50 amps
10 awg 30 amps
12 awg 20 amps
14 awg 15 amps
16 awg 7.5 amps
These are the recommended maximum fuse ratings for the corresponding wire size. Using a smaller fuse than what's recommended here will be perfectly safe.

Pizza- if that's the case, then a sub/amp combo won't happen. As I would upgrade my main wire to 0 gauge and redo it. Yeah a cap seems like a bandaid. Just looking for more bass, gets plenty loud now. Maybe turn up the bass some for the speakers.

I couldn't run four gauge wire for everything? My main wire to the distro block, coming in and going out and for the grounds as well?

TK5- thanks for that info! I have another amp I could use for my four channel and be at 105 amps total instead of 140, which means I could possible add a sub.

Hmm to bass or not to bass!

Well just priced everything out, sure could do things differently. Yet, I want it this way as I have heard other subs and such.

Kicker 0 guage wiring kit for dual amps and 10' of Kicker 0 gauge with a 300 amp fuse and terminals for the big four upgrade- $300
RAAMaudio mat for sound deadener $150
Alpine SWRT12 sub- $300
Alpine MRX100 amp- $300
Build a box- $50
New RCA's-$60

Looking at $1160 to just add a sub, than another grand for an Alpine INA W910. So roughly $2200 just in a audio system for the truck. Wonder if the GF will notice some money missing from savings....

Choices, choices, LOL.

KnuKonceptz wire is a lot cheaper and just as good. As for the alpine stuff, its great but yea its gonna cost you because of the name on it. Start checking ebay after christmas for people selling leftover stuff or stuff they don't want.
