Amp turns on, no output to sub though

Check your grounding at the amp chassis. Bad grounds at the chassis mean bad ground to the RCA's. Bad ground to the RCA cables is an invitation to line noise. If that doesn't stop the problem, then keep an ear on the noise. If it's a buzz it's spark plug noise. If it's a whine it's alternator noise. Different approaches to eliminating each.

You can build your own fully shielded cables with Belden 2-conductor 100% shielded audio cable. Available in bulk from most electronics supply stores. Same performance as the uber cables, but 30 to 40 cents a ft vs a couple bucks. Easier to run, too, as it's much thinner than the audiofile "Hey Look At Me!" stuff. Not nearly as pretty, though, as it's made for commercial installation performance, not looks.

Will do, I'm planning on tearing back into it tomorrow so I'll post up how it goes. And it's definitely a whine that get's higher when I hit the gas.

Well I swapped out the rca's for a quality pair and it works great now! Thanks for the help guys!
