Need some help with amp decisions (power cable size)

Ok I am currently piecing a system together this is what I have so far:

4 Polk DB571 (60 RMSx4ohm) I couldn't pass up a deal on these may upgrade to components later for the front.
ZX350.4 (50RMSx4ohmx4chnl) actually going to be a little higher since birth sheet was 417rms

Now I have two amps for the sub. I am planning on going with an Alpine SWR T-12 if I can fit it where I want it otherwise a SWR T-10. I do not have the sub yet but I do have two amps.
ZX400.1 461RMS at 2 ohm
ZX750.1 960RMS at 2 ohm

Now I know the slim type R is a 4 ohm speaker so basically cutting my RMS in half on the amps. Anyone think the 400.1 will be enough only pushing around 250 RMS to the Type R?

Im leaning toward the ZX750 but I purchased a 4 ga double amp kit and am thinking that its not going to be a good enough kit for the 750 plus the 350. Its a kicker kit rated for 1500 watts but I seem to remember from my younger days I am going to need to go with 0/1ga. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Alpine Type R subs are power hungry. 250 watts might not be enough. If your just looking for good sound 250 will be ok, but if you want some good bass that sub will need more power.

The 750 will be happier in that setup as it will not need to be at or near max gain. Will also protect for any future changes you may make. 4AWG is fine, should be able to pull 130 amps with about 0.5v drop from the battery for a 15' run. Fuse with 125 - 150A.

1/0 is way overkill for initial setup, but will also protect for future upgrades. Quality 1/0 wire makes it easier to run but are $$$. If nothing else, do the big 3/4 upgrade and help on ground voltage drop.

Thank you all for your input. I was concerned that running the two amps in the system totalling about 1400 watts would be too much for the 4 ga kit. It comes with 4 ga power and ground then 8 ga from distro blocks to amps. Kicker says the kits good up to 1500 watts. I was thinking of running the 8 to the 350 watt but running the left over 4 ga from the blocks to the 750 amp. That shouldnt be a problem should it? Its been years since I have installed an amp, I have installed several single amp setups this will be my first dual amp setup.

You should be fine. You could also order a couple more feet of 4ga and run 4ga to both amps.

Is the distro block in the kit fused?

its the kicker double amp kit 4 ga heres a link
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...PKD4-PKD4.html

It looks like the blocks take 1 ga or 4 ga (2) and output 4 ga or 8 ga (4)

I will either just get another 4 ga and continue it all the way or step it up to the 0 ga. Looks like either way going to be about double what I thought it was.

Anyone have any luck running two 4 ga through the firewall?

You will be fine with a single 4ga running back to the fused distro block. From the distro you could then run 4ga to both amps. You may need to get a few feet of 4ga but that is pretty cheap. Btw Kicker makes really good power cable. It is very flexible and true to size.

I had 4ga running both a 1000w sub amp and 800w 4 channel.

One word of caution. If think you might ever upgrade to more power or more amps then spend the money now and run 1/0ga. It will double the cost of you wiring but will save you money in the long run.

Trust me I know. Just replaced my main 4ga run with 1/0ga to be able to add a third amp.

Thank you all for your help. Ive decided to go with the Kicker 0/1 AWG kit. This way I wont have to worry about it in the future if I ever decide to go to larger amps. Went with the kicker since theyre offering an extra year of warranty for a three year total when you use their kit with their amps. If anyone needs a nice kicker 4 AWG double amp wiring kit let me know.
