We need some specs on the amp, door speakers and subs. Is 340 rms? max? At what impedance load?

Just give us the model numbers of this stuff and we(or at least I) would be more than happy to help you out

Usually the peak is more than the rms..hmmm. If it is rms and you powered 2 subs with that then each sub would be getting 170 watts, if wired at 4 ohms. For some kickers, 10's most likely like you have mentioned, their rating is 150 watts. So yes if wired at a 4 ohm impedance, subs getting power that is within spec, and the amp is actually 340 rms, then I would say it is a go.

Now, you will not be getting any super hard hitting bass, but for $50 for the whole setup I must say I probably wouldn't pass it up.

I would say go for it. The worst that could happen is you are out ~70 after you buy the wiring for it. I would just make sure all the components work fine before you buy it.

Just find an amp and sub that are in spec with each other and you will be golden. Look at the rms, that is more meaningful than max.

If you are not looking to spend over 100, I would get the deal from your friend. You will have to buy used to stay under that budget.

Look on sonicelectronix or crutchfield for what you may want.
