and im assuming this is for one sub?? You can run two subs off that amount of power, but Id really recommend 750-1000 watts for your lower end dual sub setup.

Stay awy from Rockford if you could. I think i've mentioned this before. They made some awesome gear in the late 90's like their Punch series....but ever since 2000, they went mass market, and their line is crap

Soundstream went the same route as RF. There is a lot better stuff out there for the money...or even less. I suggest looking at an audio forum for some additional idea vs being sucked in by the marketing hype of crap that these chains are selling! Ever consider going with 4 8's...you'd actually have more bass from that configuration then 2 10's, and it might be even cheaper depending on what sub you choose, and you could even get away maybe with a smaller amp.

yea...I wanna go with some JL 10w1's if I can. If mounting depth is a problem I'm gonna look at either Pioneer or Alpine R's shallow subs...cause I can't afford the JL shallows; leaning toward Pioneer. My last "system" was 2 Punch 12's with a Punch 60...but like you said...that was when Rockford was good. Thanks for the link and all the help man. I have a friend that use to be in competitions. He's gonna help me but granted my budget doesn't fit his recommendations! LOL------DirtySCREW

Look at the JL W0's too if you want JL. I have read they are better than the W1's but I guess that is personal preference and modeling on WinISD. Dayton HF10's have a good rep too

I have a suggestion.... go to a local stereo shop that does competition installs and has been in business for a very long time and see what gear they are using. Technology has advanced so much over the last several years. I'm using a RF 501BD that is rated at 500 watts RMS but the original birth sheet was 616 rms at 14.4 volts. The shops know what they are talking about because they research and install things that are well built, especially if the shop has been in business for a long time. My local shop 25+ years of competition installs recommend JL XD600 amps for subs. They are 85% efficient and are cool to the touch. Can be had from the gray market shops online for a little over 300. There is also another high quality reasonable cost amp made by Sundown Audio. These amps are reasonably priced if you look closely and are super efficient. Lots of brands from the 80s and 90s sold themselves out when the car audio scene got tough. You just can't trust all of the same brands you could back in the day. But some of the flagship brands are still great.
