OEM - Stock - Factory Amp question???

Where is the factory amp located on a 2008 Limited?

The reason I ask is, I started putting in a new system this weekend and I found out that the previous owner installed Infinity Kappa components. I can see that they are hooked up to some upgraded speaker wire, but I haven't been able to find where the wire goes after it leaves the door. The wiring harness for the stock HU looks like it is in original condition, so I would think that they go to the stock amplifer.

As far as i know, there is no stock speaker amplifier in the F150's from 98-08. The only amp is for the sub under the rear seat.

You can either run all new speaker wire from your amp to each individual door, or you can use 9 wire and tap into the existing speaker wire at the deck.

This sounds like it might be easier in the long run. Do you have any words of wisdom on the proper way to do this (material, technique, etc.)

Thanks.

This is how I would do it...

You have to get signal to your amp, and speaker wire from your amp to your speakers. The easiest place to do this is at the radio. When we do an install as this, we pull the headunit, isolate the speaker wires, and cut them. The deck side wires into a 4-channel line out converter, and the truck side wires into the 9 wire.

9 wire (we sell 20 foot rolls for like $30)

I have two sets of RCA's going from the HU to the amp. If I run speaker wire back to the HU (from the amp) and go into the speaker wire at the wiring harness that feeds the stock speaker wire, would this be OK?

So, instead of having speaker wire from the head unit tied into the wiring harness, I will have speaker wire from my amp into the wiring harness.
