Thumbs up Amp dying *grump* [Update - Everything Okay! Simple fix.]

My trusty Crossfire VR705 looks to finally be laying down on me. The left front channel has begun to mute slightly if the amp is cold or I'm listening to a very low volume. Crank some power to it and the channel will crackle and buzz for a few seconds then pop back to full volume. The more power I shove at it the faster it comes back.

I've traced it directly to that channel in the amp. I was hoping against hope that it was simply a bad connection but, alas, it's definitely in the amp. I suppose I should be impressed, actually. The amp has been bulletproof for 8 most excellent years and two vehicles. I don't abuse it but I certainly show it no mercy. That's forever in electronics years, especially with what I normally ask of it.

On the upside I know exactly which component in the system is the problem, the mfg is still in business, they do all their own repair work in house (Irving, TX), an it's a flat-rate $125 for the repair, including return shipping. It beats the pants of buying a new amp and gets me back in business with a proven commodity that won't require any mods to the system. Aside from being without music while it's off for repair I suppose things be a lot worse. Still sucks though.

Yeah, he's helped me a ton. Wish I could've used my P1 in the truck without having to resort to major surgery to the interior.

It's alive!!

Earlier this evening I mentally reviewed my diagnostics. After a complete rundown it dawned on me that I'd checked absolutely everything except the channel gains at the amp. I twirled the gain pots a couple times to make sure the contacts were clean and...

SUCCESS!! Working like a champ with nary a hiss, pop, or crackle.

Nice little 'Doh!' moment, that (insert sheepish look here). Talk about feeling like a complete dunce. Yeesh. At least I have my tunes back.
