System install help
If you have sync, you will have to pull the Sync cover off and there will be a bolt right beside where the 1/8th inch stereo plug is. That will allow the cover to be pulled off. Also, you will need to loosen both trim pieces on either side of the radio face plate to get that out. When you do that, there will be a bunch of plugs that goes into that control panel. That should get you to the head unit, so you can pull in out, and get to the wiring harnesses.
Im trying to make this as easy as possible for you.
Mount the REQ behind your head unit. It is way easier to run/keep track of 2 sets of RCA's as opposed to the 7 wires youd have to run if you were to put it in the back.
you will need both of those harnesses if you want to do this without splicing into factory wiring

Any ideas?
I used the Metra 71-5220 and the 70-5220, I think that was the numbers, and I didn't splice one factory wire at all.
I ran all four speaker wires out of the radio with the Metra 71 harness back to my amp, and then ran the amp out to the Metra 70 which plugged into the factory harness and went to the door speaks.
I hooked my my steering wheel controls and power and ground from the factory harness through the Metra 70 and 71 harnesses and to the radio straight through. Worked just like I had planned it, except for having to run the amp remote on wire from the fuse box. That I didn't plan on. But it is working now, and when I get rid of this truck, I can yank the two Metra harnesses out and plug the factory plug into the head unit, and pull my amp and I am done. I will never touch the factory wiring at all.
