5-channel amp

I have a 2009 crew xlt

I'm looking for a 5 channel amp - first time installer, so I'm looking for something easy. I'm keeping the stock head and using an Audiocontrol lc6 pre-amp.

I have Eclipse components installed in the front and I'm going to power a single 10 in a supercrew box.

I was looking at the Alpine PDX 5 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...ine_PDX-5.aspx

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this - also, I heard that they have to be mounted horizontally - which means that I couldn't mount it on the back wall. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, would it fit under the seat?

Thanks

If I had to do mine over again, I'd probably go with the Alpine PDX-5. Here's a link to the operator's manual. I don't see anything about not mounting it vertically. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me either.

Just FYI the PDX amps are notorious for having a slight noise floor. While most people wont care and might not notice it, its something that drives me nuts.

If budget is no issue I'd look into the Audison LRx5.1k amplifier. If space is an issue then look at the JL 900/5 amplifier.

i have the pdx 5 channel amp and its great for an easy install, and has a good price. it powers all four door speakers (infinity) and an infinity perfect ten in a q logic box, and sounds good for the money i spent. and its about as big as a large phone book. i don't hear any noise from it, and have turned up to only about 75%....i have yet to have any issues from heat...i have had it for a little less than a year.

Thanks for the link to the link to the manual - msall, what do you mean by a "low noise floor"?
Also, as nice as the Audison might be, that's a little steep for my budget.

I have a Kappa 5 channel amp and its really easy to install and such, but my only problem is I can't get rid of the alternator wine.

A noise floor is a slight hiss that you will always hear through the speakers. Usually only noticeable between songs or when music isnt playing. The PDX amps have this noise floor issue, although it doesn't bother a lot of people.
