What do I need?!? HELP!

My Kenwood DDX512 went out on me (after just 4 months!!!) and I got it on sale at Best Buy so I would have to spend extra money to get another so I have decided to put the factory back in (less chance of someone breaking into my truck too). Anyway, the dude at best buy told me since I have 2 amps that I need a converter and an equalizer. Is this true? How do they hook up both amps to the factory HU? What exactly do I need. I have $340 on a best buy gift card so I have to get everything from there too. So PLEASE help! This is what he said I needed.

Do both of your amps have built in crossovers? Better yet, what are the amps?

If you have built-in crossovers, should should be able to use a 4 channel line out converter like this one.

If not, you will need the LOC And separate crossovers.

Since you have all the hookups, just go on ebay/craigslist and find another Kenwood. Even a different model, it should use the same harness.

The Kenwood was under warranty, thats how I got credit back on a gift card. I would also like to put the factory back in cause people like to break in vehicles around here so its less chance they will. But I have these amps:

I would also like to get everything I need at Best Buy since I have their gift card so no money comes out of my pocket.

you don't need the EQ but you will need the line converter. BB should sell a line converter.

probablly no need to the equalizer unless you really want it...but you would need this for the 4 channel:

Its not on our website, but id get the Install Edge line out converter for the mono (its the only one they sell in store other then the one pictured above).

The 512 is deleted item...the 514 replaced it about 2 months ago, which is why they gave him store credit. You could always go back and ask a manger if hes willing to wheel and deal on the price of a 514...you never know, you might get lucky. Just explain to him/her your situation.

What exactly went bad on the 512? Ive seen a TON of kenwoods stop working, and only a simple reset fixed all issues (stupid kenwoods). Not that you'll be able to get it back now anyway though, just curious.

So I dont need the EQ? The dude at BB said it would make the system sound better since I was using the factory, but if I dont need it I'll use the $ for something else. So the converter will do just fine by itself? Is their anything else I need to get?

I was jamming a cd, cut the truck off to get some gas, and when I turned it back on the kenwood froze on the screen that said 'reading...' and none of the buttons would take it off that screen, so when I cut the truck off again the screen went white with colored lines, and when I cranked back up it went completely black and it would not turn on or do anything after that.

So Best Buy has the Install Edge in store? And if I get both of these can my factory HU hook up to both of them? How do these things connect to the HU exactly?

You dont need the EQ, but it would help with adjusting your speakers. The way these wire up is they attach to the front/rear speaker outputs from your factory deck. They plug into the box, and the other side of the box gives you RCA preouts to run to your amps. If your amps have RCA pass through (not sure if they do) then you would only need the ISVE61.

Tell me if I got this correct...the speaker output wires from the HU connect to the speakers wires on the converter, and the signal cables from the 4-channel amp connect to the RCAs on the converter...right? So what does the wires on the 2-channel converter connect to for the mono amp?

theres two ways to do do it...you can tap into your rear speaker wires just like with the 4 channel converter, or if your amp has the option, you can run RCA's from one amp to the other.

your 4 channel does have a line out, so you only need the ISVE 61
