Question How too?..Amp with a Stock Head Unit

I plan on hooking up my system in my 07 truck myself, I have everything I need to my best of knowledge.. amp, speaker.. wiring kit and what not.. Im sticking with the stock head unit, I have the convertor thingy that allows you access to hook up the RCAs to one of the stock speakers once you splice it up, but how do I hook up a remote wire for the amp when using the stock HU? I heard to hook it up to the stock radio in the back to some wire, but where and which wire??

I would invest in a new head unit to avoid this mess but the factory radio was just replaced under warranty I had an issue with the original radio it had signal issues, so they just put in a whole new factory head unit- please help?

some amps can sense the signal and turn itself on. that what my mtx thunderbox does. also used the high level inputs instaed of a converter and i am actually shocked how good it sounds. i have had a few half decent setups, nothing crazy and this sounds just as good.

go to a ford dealer and ask for the factory wiring diagram and find what colour the ignition wire is and splice in.

oh yeah the amp will be on, but I just need or want it to turn off when I turn the truck off, Whats the best way to splice with the excisting ignition wire thats in the wiring harness behind the radio,.. would I just carefully cut off a small area of the rubber around the wire thus exposing the wire itself but not cuttin it of course.. and simply just like .. wrap the remote wire around the open live exposed ignition wire then just wrap up in some electrical tape?..? that to me sounds like what to do but I may be retarded or wrong.. Im just tryn to save some time and money only place I know is a Best Buy in town to do it, but I think they want like 70 bucks to install everything..

what you have is called an inline converter.

im not sure if theres a wire that can be used as an actual remote turn on but you can use the accessory wire. the difference being that with remote turn on the amp only comes on when the radio is on and with the accessory you can turn the key on, have the radio off but the amp still comes on. no big deal really.

wrapping the wire and taping it up is one way to go or you could solder it or use one of these connectors. i think just wrapping it will be fine though, just not real professional looking.

im not sure about what color the wires are but im sure someone can chime in with that info for ya.

No offense, but id rather look behind a radio and see a splice and solder/military solder then see T-taps. T-taps are the lazy way of doing installations.

For rmeote just splice and solder into the ignition wire behind your radio. make sure you fuse the wire between the head unit and the amp.
