Good 5 channel?
Good 5 channel?
Would this be a good amp choice to run a set of decent components up front, some cheaper rear fill, and one 10' sub under the back seat?

Well.....
personally, I wouldn't even consider another 5ch amp than this one; http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...OWER-1000.html
I'm sure that JL is a nice amp, but it's just a little light in the pants. No substitute for raw power.
I LOVE mine. I think it is the cleanest, most powerful 5ch amp on the market..... other than maybe the Audison LX5 (which costs literally 3 X's as much.
BTW, this RF amp has a suggested retail of $1295. So $499 is an absolute steal ! Wish I could afford another..... even if I just put it in the closet for future use.

Peace,
Fish

Hey JJDH.....
Pay no attention to RF's ratings......
All RF amps come with a birthsheet that tells the 'actual' bench tested wattage for each specific amp, and mine puts out 111wts RMS x 4ch into 4ohms !
And 705wts RMS x 1ch, into 2 ohms (935 into 1ohm)
Now with that said, maybe the JL's are way underrated too. But do they come with a birthsheet that lists actual wattage ?
mSaLL, you have mentioned the Zuki's before, and I'm just curious..... If they are so powerful and clean, that they will blow away an RF Power 1000, or JL's 5ch, and maybe even less expensive, why doesn't EVERYONE own one ?
If it was all that, and was cheap too, I'd think it would be the biggest selling 5ch on the market ! So why isn't it ???
Just curious,
Fish
You still have not heard my setup :-) I need to get over to Sac......

BTW mSaLL.....
tell me again about ZUKI's rediculous wattage rating system ???
http://www.zukiaudio.net/index.html
Personally, I think even RF's amps are a little too underated. I don't think an amp needs to put out more than 10 to 20% "more than" its rated specifications.....
But your telling me that the ZUKI 5 wts x 4ch + 10wts x 1ch, will blow away my 111 wts x 4 + 705 wts x 1ch ?
.......and maybe it will, but if that's the case, ZUKI takes the grand prize for the stupidest rating system on the planet + apparently, selling amps is not very important to them.
Just some goofy as marketing right there ......

Read up on what a THD rating is. It is distortion rating. Your RF amp is probably benched at 1% THD. The Zuki amp is benched at .05% THD, hence the low power ratings. When benched at 1% THD, the front 4 channels of the Zuki Eleets put out 175 watts x4 at 4ohm. Which will in fact, "blow away" your 111 x4.
And not only is it very powerful, but the sound is unbelievable. The music is so lively. There is a member from DIYMA in Sac who runs Zuki amps, which is where I heard them. Read this review about their power output:http://www.soundbuggy.com/Eric/Car%2...nel/index.html
This is where the car audio marketing scam comes into play. Mainstream companies love to slap huge numbers on the box of their poorly built products, knowing that the dumbfounded customer will buy the "highest wattage" item. Yet in reality, its the truly high quality equipment that is properly built and benched that perform the best. So to the Average Joe, the Zuki rating system looks retarded...but to true audiophiles, it makes perfect sense. And this, Fish, is why not many people own Zuki amps.

Not knocking your amp Fish, its a nice piece of equipment for what you paid. I'm just saying dont judge a product by its numbers....kind of like dont judge a book by your cover. I have heard the RF amps, and the Zukis....and to be honest, they aren't even in the same league. The Zukis are far better than the amps I use too.
-mSaLL
PS: imagine the power the SPL extreme model does at 1%...it is rated 125w @ .05% THD 4ohm.
