where to mount amp??

I have a 06 fx4 with sliding rear window. Ive been told i would be very limited on spaces to mount my amps. Im in the process of lifting my back seat 2.5" and was wondering if there is enough space behind the rear seat to mount a 1600w amp? If not where else could I mount it? Ive been told under the passenger seat but it still is exposed a good bit, enough that I want be able to have someone sit on that side of the bench seat.

What size truck? Supercrew? Supercab? There should be enough room to mount your amps behind the back seat.

Nah, we lie alot... We just want people to bust their ***** to get the seat off and everything mounted so we can sit back and laugh.... Most here have gone behind the seats. Some have 4+ LARGE amps back there.

no, not sure where your goin with that

i have 2 amps, one for my speakers, one for my subs

one amp is under the driver side front seat, the second amp is under the passenger side front seat

one of them is an alpine 4-channel 300w for the speakers

the other is a 1500w mono for the subs

and each one fit under the seat

I just have a small Kicker 400x1 amp to power my JL10w1 and there was no way that was going to fit under the front passenger or driver seat without sticking out and looking ridiculous. I measured as much as I could and even took the passenger seat out of the truck to attempt to make it work and there just wasn't enough room with the A/C ducting under there and the wiring harnesses.

Granted I have a SuperCrew so those vents may not be there on other models, but even that small amp wasn't going to fit. I just ended up taking the back seat out and mounting it against the back wall. I also used a trick I saw here, so it becomes literally a 5 minute job to remove it next time. No more reaching behind the seat and fishing around for those hooks.

I just had my center console out this past week, and noticed theres a fair amount of room inside the frame of it. My "console" is actually the flip up jump seat. If someone had a small enough amp for just the door speakers, I am assuming that it could be mounted there. There would be no air flow to it, but that wouldn't concern me too much, just because that amp {shouldn't} heat up that much...maybe Im wrong?

I was just being sarcastic as kind of an answer. You can get quite a few things back there.

I was thinking about mounting my amp under the 60 side of my back seat (mounted to the actual bench). I haven't seen anyone do it, is it just because most people put there subs there?

I just really don't want to tear out the material behind my seat to mount it there and it seems like it wouldnt take up too much space where I want to put it.

Also I was planning on mounting it on 3/4" plywood covered in black carpet to match. I see people using MDF, what is the benefit?
