Amp Mounting Questions
Amp Mounting Questions
Guys im just about to order my box from super crew sound for my subs and i got a few questions about mounting the amps i have been searching around and im curious is there any certain spots i sould avoid when mounting the amp? i will probably have two amps and the cross overs for my front comps back there. Also if anyone has some pix of there amps mounted that would be great. One last question too is there carpet back behind the seat taht has to come off first before i mount or can i take it off and put on the sound deadner and what not and run wires and the put the carpet back on and mount the boards to the wall then? Any help would be great thanks a lot guys
There is a carpet like material back there. The top portion is visible in the cab so removing it isn't a good idea. At the same time having it over the amps isn't a great idea either. I cut it in half horizontally and then put the top portion back in. This keeps the amps uncovered but keeps the interior visually appealing at the same time.
The amps are going to go where they fit. The seatbelt splits the area in a 2/3 fashion. If you have a motorized back window that will limit your options even more. I was able to put 3 small amps back there; 2 on the passenger side and 1 on the driver side of the seatbelt. I did an Alpine M350 and an Alpine T220 on the passenger side, and then another Alpine M350 on the driver side.
Last I knew running wires to the doors is a major major project requiring drilling and stuff. Do a search and you will see what I mean. I think most people here just end up using the stock wiring to get into the doors and keep their crossovers in the door somewhere. I put mine under the panel that holds the window and lock switches. They fit nicely in there.

Is it possible to mount the subs over the carpet on the back wall or do you think that would add to the possibility of the amps over heating? Or would it just be easier to cut the carpet and leave enough to cover the top edge? Also is it better to mount the amps on MDF or something of the sort.
sorry thats my bad i meant mount the amps over the carpet on the back wall i don't know where i came up with subs but i meant amps.
I am in the same boat as you with mounting the amps. First time doing it and trying to get it all figured out.
