Volume levels

At present I'm running the stock radio to some Boston speakers. It seems the radio control lacks resolution in the volume control in that at 4 bars it's just a bit too low and and 4.5 bars it takes a big jump in volume. Not to mention there is a lot of volume control left that I'm not using, nor intend to at these volume levels.

I'm going to be amping the system with a 5 channel amp. Is it possible, in tuning the system, to send less volume to the speakers at these lower radio control levels so I can get a little more resolution from the head unit volume control, and use more of the volume band? Does my question even make sense? I'm not looking to violate the air waves. I just want a decent sounding system at reasonable listening levels, that blends in with the stock interior. I'll leave the competition systems to you guys.

My equipment, since that question seems to come up in other threads is as follows:
Front speakers - Boston Pro60
Rear speakers - Boston SL80
Sub - Polk db1040 in Q-Logic box
Amp - Blaupunkt THA555PNP (yes, I'm a wiring wimp)

It's not too late to send the Polk sub back if the Boston G110 would have been a better choice, since it better matches the amp's power.

Truck is a 2008 SuperCrew F-150.

I like the 6 cd factory head unit and steering wheel controls and the sirius interface. I wanted to add a sub and get a little more power to the speakers for a little cleaner sound.

Off topic, but what do you think of the Factory Five kit? Would you do it over?

Im disappointed in you.

The gain is not a volume ****. And the amp is for adding clean power to pure up the sound.

A new HU is a good idea though.

I'll see how the stock head unit works out first. I have an iPhone, I guess I do get around to loading all that music on it.
