Will this install work? Please Help.
Ok, I'm sure everyone is getting tired of hearing from me, but I'm to the point where its time to start putting everything in and wiring it up. I've completely stripped the inside of my truck. Just the driver seat left. So, will this amp location work? Is it too crowded to do that? I'm limited on space and at least need to put the polk in that spot. This is pretty much exactly how they would fit in there. No wiggle room above or below.

Its on the panel behind where the backseat is in my 02 supercrew. Is it a problem for the sub to be installed under that same seat. If this is ok, should I just mount them directly to the wall like that or do I need to mount them to some MDF and then attach that to the wall? Also, would I be able to reattach the back plastic panel over the top of these without risk of overheating? Or would it be better to cut out the front of that plastic to let it breathe?
Now more questions about this setup. The Alpine Amp is 40Wx4 and was already installed in my truck under the front passenger seat. I unhooked it and started tracing the wiring. It was powered with an 8ga power cable through a 50A fuse to the battery. Good or bad? Will that still work moving it to the back wall assuming this setup is ok?
The Polk Amp is 150Wx2. I have 4ga power wire for it. Do I run that all the way to the battery? Do I add a fuse to it? If so, what size? This is where I really need help. Not quite sure how to connect both amps to the battery. I'd like to get this really going tomorrow, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for being patient.

Man thats a lot of issues. I am doing a very similar install. But, you should know that most of the answers to your questions are found either here or other sources on the net that can be googled in about 30 seconds.
For example.
Amp wire sizes:

Also, sources like Crutchfield have all sorts of wiring diagrams, etc. Actually I find Crutchfield website to be an amazing site for basic answers to questions, illustrations and really breaking it down to an easily understandable level.
My FAVORITE speaker wire calculator....of all time....and the EASIEST to use is this...

You should bookmark this on your computer...and never lose it.
Also my favorites:
System Design assistant.....helps you with fuses sizes....and MORE!

This bad boy here will calculate wires sizes, fuses sizes...etc and its like playing a video game!
http://www.bcae1.com/fuses.htm
That site...for which most of my links are derived makes these things almost grade school like in nature.....Take each one...one at a time and before you know it you will realize the basic science behind a car audio system is pretty simple.
Of course, I am more of a...learn it the first time....then you never have to ask again kind of guy. But we all have questions occasionally.
I did not follow your question about the black plastic cover....

ARC,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah sorry I posted the question. I don't like being that guy that posts a question that has answers, just don't want to screw anything up. First time installing all my own stuff. I think the hard part is that some of it had already been installed and trying to make sense out of what they had done. I appreciate all the links though. I will definitely take a peek at them.
As for the plastic cover...Behind the rear seat of old body style supercrews, there is plastic panel that has two access compartments for storage. The picture above has that panel taken off. I plan to put the panel back on, just wasn't sure if I could keep it stock looking to where you couldn't see the amps, or if I needed to cut out the front of it to give the amps breathing room.
Thanks again.

I installed a punch amp back there left the door cover off mounted on a piece of mdf. Subs are in a box under the seat. Last year and I haven't had any issues yet.

Last question, I'm almost finished with my install and I am checking on my grounding locations. In the picture from the first post, you can see where my amps are mounted. I installed my polk amp (silver) upside down so I could have easy access to all controls and plugs. So the ground comes out from there. I was wondering if I scrape down to bare metal and use a self tapping screw could I ground to that lip above the amp in the back wall? Thanks for the help.
Russ, dont ground there. Because there you now have to hope that the welds arent providing much resistance along with the welding glue (which has almost 0 electrical conductivity). Mount to frame or chassis.

Roger! I ended up grounding to the body down in front of where the amps are. Tried to still keep it close to them. Used a dremel to get the paint and primer off and then self-tapped it right in. Think I should be good now. Just finishing it all up today. Hopefully it'll work! I'll take some pics and post then. Thanks for your help.
Another place that I have always used is the post that bolts the seats to the frame.
As far as power if you picked up a 4g wireing kit from anywhere it usually comes with a fuse that installs under the hood. For multiple amps off the same powersource, you should have ran them to a powerblock. But you can rig it and go one wire into first amp then wire to the second. But its hard to fit 2 pieces of 4g wire into 1 amp.

Pork,
Yeah I ran a 4ga from the battery (fused it right next to the battery). Continued that 4ga all the way to the rear of the cab, hooked it into a distribution block, sent a 4ga to my nicer amp and an 8ga to my less powerful amp. Moment of truth should come tonight when I finish hooking everything back up.
