12 V switch wire

i have an 05 ScrewCab

im looking for a 12v wire that is only on when the ignition is on. i checked once behind the radio and it seemed like all of those wires had power all the time. Someone in another thread mentioned a wire in the passanger side pillar running up to the mirror, anyone know which one that would be?

thanks,
matt

I think the red one behind the stereo is switched by the key. The yellow is always hot. What you powering off it?

Yes use the wire behind the stereo. I know it's always a red one on aftermarket radio's. Not sure about the stock one.

Just take the harness off and use a meter or test light to find the ignition wire.

The color is prolly Black/Pink (the other possiblility is Lt. Grn/Yellow) at the back of the harness. I know its pin 3. Top row next to the large gauge holes.
