Will this amp...

Push two Rockford Fosgate 12's in a sealed enclosure?

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=MRP-F450

I'm not sure the exact specs on my subs, they aren't any of the "P" or "Punch" line I don't think...here is a picture of them (fits nice, doesn't it? )

EDIT: They are Rockford Fosgate Punch HE RFP4812's. 8 ohm, 200 watts RMS, 400 watts peak.

I can find out exactly what they are if necessary, just means taking them out.

I got this whole setup used from a good friend for $150 CAD including install. The car was already wired but I will probably be upgrading, most definitely the amp ground, anyway (it was scary as hell). The rest is 10GA I believe.

Any suggestions on where to mount the amp? He had them mounted on the back of the box in his Blazer but a.) I'm not crazy about mounting electronics to the thing making all the vibration and b.) I'd like to mount the box as far forward as possible as to not sacrifice trunk space too much.

I don't need 100% perfect sound quality and I don't need to vibrate my car to ****, I just want some decent bump...

Thanks for the help!

P.S. I also have a 200w JVC head unit pushing two new Alpine Type-S in the front and stock VW speakers in the back, if that makes any difference. Thanks.

I can get a Kenwood 9103 for the same price ($150) would that be better? I know the Alpine is probably a better amp but 450 watts seems too low. The Kenwood is 800w I believe...

450 might be just right.....but it depends on what the subs are. find out, then look into amp.
is the power wire 10 gauge? you might want to up that to 4, 10 is like one step above speaker wire

10 can be considered spk wire.

They look like Punch Z's, if so that Alpine will work perfect. (if they are 4ohm subs). Back when I worked in BBy's bay, thats what we used for our subwoofer. We used an old RF amp, a 12" Punch Z off an Alpine CDA-9847 with 5 1/4" Ancient Alpine Type-S spks. For what it was, that sucker wanged.

That amp can take up to a max of 8ga power wire.

Excellent, upon further inspection I think the power wire is 8 GA because it is smaller than the speaker wire and won't fit through the 10 GA hole in my wire stripper pliers. The ground is pitiful but I already cut it off and have some 8 GA to go in it's place

The guy I bought it from said there's only one sub channel and they have to be bridged, how do I go about doing this?

Thanks.

The guy you got it from is a friggin retard. There is no POSSIBLE way to bridge a 1ch amp.... But there can actually be 2/3/4 subchannels on that amp.

8ga is bigger than 10ga...

MRP-F450 is a 4-channel amp. Bridging 1/2, 3/4 gets you 200W @ 4 Ohms.

Alright, the Alpine is out of question because the guy doesn't want to sell it anymore...

Will a Kenwood 9103 do the job as well?

They are 2 OHM subs apparently. Sorry I haven't found out what kind they are yet because I don't have the right screwdriver for them...I'll try to get one today.

Alright, I finally found out exactly what kind of subs they were...sorry about that.

Rockford Fosgate Punch HE RFP4812 12"

8 Ohm, 200 Watts RMS, 400 Watts Peak - Made In USA.

They were wired with some pretty nice thick wire, way too much of it I think though - you want it as short as possible, correct? Obviously some slack is required but not 4' of it.

The box has this port on the inside of it, is this good/bad?

Now that I got that out of the way, what am I looking at here for an amp? I want to spend $150-$250 at the most (I'm a cheap-*** 16-year-old). As I said my buddy has a Kenwood 9103 for $150 that I will pick up if it'll work.

In other news I bought a Knukonceptz 8 GA KLM Amp Wiring Kit to replace the ****ty wires that are already installed. If I need something bigger it's not a big deal I will just order another kit and sell this one or use it for something else...

ok. what you need is an amp that will do 400 to 450 watts rms at 4 ohms
with 2 single 8 ohms, i think the only way to wire it is at 4 ohms
i wouldn't worry too much about the extra slack in the wire, ive had lots of slack in my box before and i don't get any noise from it movin around or anything
the "port" inside isnt really a port at all, it looks like its just supposed to be a brace for the box, which is good. but why they didnt just seal separate chambers i dont know (but it really doesnt matter)
if its in good condition, i would just go with the kenwood. you're gonna have a hard time finding a 500 watt amp for any cheaper than that.
just keep in mind that you will be potentially overpowering those subs by 25% so be a little careful with the volume ****
