Shallow mount subs

I am thinking of get rid of my current 10in sub and amp so I can upgrade and move the subs under my back seat without haveing to raise the seat up. But I had a few questions aout te shallow mount subs:

Does one shallow mount sub still beat as hard as one regular sub?

What size amp would I need to power two 12in subwoofers?

Would two 12s be too loud?

What is a good brand who makes shallow mount subs?

Finally where would I be able to find these things at the best price?

I also have been looking at www.cardiscountstereo.com and thier prices are really really cheap and was wondering if the quality is the same and reliable place to purchase this stuff. Because if it is I need to buy a head unit to replace my stocker, bigger amp, two shallow mount 12in subs

You will get mixed answers on this one, some will say Kicker and some will say Rockford Fosgate. I went to all the local stereo shops and I think the Rockford Fosgate sounded the best. Now that could be that maybe the other subs were in the wrong size boxs and were not performing that good due to the wrong size box. I just ordered the Rockford P3SD210 sub, check out this guys ebay store he has great prices. Retail on the sub is $180 and I paid $94 from him.

i had the same dilemma. i went to my local car stereo place and talked to the guy about shallow mounts for a full 15 min. he told me they do save space, but that you give up sound quality and hard hitting for that. i have an 01 supercab with 2 kicker cvrs under the rear seat. i found a box to fit the subs, but i had to get 1" risers/shams because the box was to shallow. the subs sound fine, and my back seat still locks in the down position. the size amp you need will depend on the subs you get and how much power they need, and how much you want to give them.

So about the box..how many inches would you give your sub? Like say the sub is 3.5 inches how tall would you build your box to give it a clean sound still? I think I have my mind set on the Rockford fosgate P3SD212. I think I'm going to wait untill I have enough money to buy a cd player, my two subs, and a bigger amp before I buy any of them. Speakin of amps and cd players who makes a good brand? I currently have an alpine amp but i would need to upgade as its just a small amp. I'm also lookin for a cd player(perferrably double din). I want one that won't make the space where my stock radio was look cheesy.

i got a buddy wit the rockford fosgates under the backseat in his frontier. sounds pretty descent. i'd take a glimpse at the pioneer premier or the RE shallow mounts.
12s or 10s -> Pioneer TS-SW1241D or Pioneer TS-SW1041D. got a buddy wit em in a regular cab tacoma.
the REs come in 10s or 12s too...http://reaudio.com/woofers.html#goto_sx
they might b kinda pricey tho.
