My new dome light...

I know what you're thinkin...wth is this guy posting about a dome light in the amp section? Let the pics explain.

Before you get all pissy about the exposed screws, I plan on doing a fiberglass surround to cover the sides of the amp and make it pretty. I dont have pics of the build up, but lets just say it was a PITA.

First, I had to re-run the wires from the distro block up the back passenger c-pillar. Then I routed the RCA's up the drivers A-pillar then over to the amp. I took down the dome light and run the wires through there and then under the amp to the ends where they terminate. Took about 5 hours, but I wasnt rushing.

I made two steel brackets to screw underneath the third brake light on the cab bracing, and then screwed that to the 1/2" MDF. I then screwed the MDF to the bracing that runs across where the dome light is. Lets just say, its solid. I dont think I'm gonna have to worry about it comin down.

Questions and comments welcome!!

Just the ring around the Memphis logo lights up blue. Its really not too bright, but it does give a cool blue aura to the inside at night. I would take some pics, but I cant get my camera to work without the flash right now.

Thank you sir. The space-saving thing was what kicked it off for me. I was debating how I could mount the amp without hiding it, yet not in the way. And this is what I come up with.

It'll be just fine in Freeport, FL. Not being an ***, I'm from not too far north of there and Freeport isn't exactly a high crime area. Nice little town in the panhandle...great spots for seafood in Freeport as well.

Once you get it molded in with black Suede. (Ok. You dont have to it just would look good IMO and cheap) It will be slick. That looks to be too much a bish to do in mine... Good work.

Haha...yeah, Freeport is a little town that doesnt even have its own police department. I'm not too terribly worried about someone stealing anything. Anyways, locks and alarms are only gonna keep the honest people out.

I was actually planning on painting the fiberglass piece to match the truck and do a black suede headliner. I've already got the suede, I've just gotta tear it all back down and do it. I'll keep everyone posted.
