RCA to Power leads
RCA to Power leads
just a question on the minimum distance between the two...
to answer your first question, I have done multiple searches for both RCA, Power cable, as well as a few other search terms and found nothing that directly answers my question...
I know that while running the cables they should be at least 18" apart, that I did find...so I guess I'm a liar about that...but I've never owned an amplifier where the power and inputs/outputs are more than 18" apart.
I had a 94 Ranger that I hooked up my first system on, and it had some wicked alternator whine until I moved a few things around and don't want the same problem.
That said, I am hooking up an Alpine MRP f320 and m350 for my not so rockin system, and my RCA's aren't quite as long as I would have liked...and I sure as HELL ain't re-running all those damn cables.
Now on to the question...
How close is too close when it comes to hooking these things up, do I have to worry about the output leads to the speakers as well, or is the interferance more of an RCA concern??
As information I am running 1/0 cable inside conduit under the truck along the passenger frame rail to a grommet in the rear part of the cab on the passenger side. RCA's are run down the driver's side under the popout trim pieces on the floor. I have a D-Block that will split the power to 10 gauge per amp. I do not have the amps installed yet but I am trying to get this done before the week is out.
Thanks for any help I can get...hopefully one of you MECP types can help me out on this.

So your concerned about if you mount the amp you might have to run the RCAs over to the passengers side, and the power wire over to the drivers side, and cross the power and RCAs? I am a little confused about what you are asking since you have your power wire down one side and the RCAs down the other already....
In all honesty, I wouldnt worry to much about interference from your power wire to your RCAs....

18" at minimum for the majority of the run. While at the amp it is a given that most RCA's will be closer than that. Its okay but keep it as far apart as earthly possible.
Speaker wire from amps can be run next to power wire with little to no interference.
Given that you are using 1/0 and that the keyswitch wires are on the driver side, I suggest that you run the RCA's, remote, and spk wire on the pass side and the power on driver side.
Hope it helps. - from one of the MECP's
thanks for the help Low, and sorry if my post was a little vague...sometimes I just figure everyone can picture it as well as I do even though I'm the only one looking at it
the amps will be mounted on the back cab wall.
power is already run under the body of the truck (outside the cab). I used 120VAC residential conduit (the plastic type) to run it in to prevent damage. The conduit is sealed at both ends to prevent any moisture/debris from getting in there.
RCA's are on the Driver's side, as well as the driver's side speaker (amp output wiring). Wiring for the pass side speakers is on the pass side.
what I was really looking for is advice on the actual amp hookup...all the leads have significant distance between them for the majority of the run, I was just wondering about the final hookup and how crucial it is to maintain the distances between all the leads at the final hookup point.
What I gather so far is that it is not AS important to maintain them at final hookup, just for the majority of the run...does this sound right?
Just making sure that I get what you are saying...and thanks for tomerating a guy who obviously is kinda uneducated about this stuff.
