Help with 5 chanel

I just got my wife a new Explorer. It came w/o the premium sound. I am in the process of getting all new speakers and a new head unit. I want to take up as little room as possible so I figured the best thing to do would be to go with 1 amp.

Being that it is just her car to drive around I want speakers both front and rear along with a sub. I was thinking a single 8 or 10 would do fine for her.

Can anyone recomend a 5 chanel amp, that dosen't cost a fortune, has decent power, and isn't as big as a skateboard.

Currently the only two I am considering is the Hifonics ZXi8006 which is 55x4 + 200x1 and the Eclipse XA5000 which is 50x1 + 300x1

Any other manuf. make decent 5 chanels that I am overlooking??

a really nice one i've seen is the Kicker ZX700.5, does 85X4 and 425X1 to give u some more flexability on power for a subwoofer around the same price as the hifonics. but it is about 22" long though. You also have the Alpine MRV-F450 again, about 16" long. And if you wanna get pricey the Jl Audio 500/5.

Boston GT50 (4 ohms = 45x4, 250x1) has been a great amplifier for my customers.

Another great choice is the DB Drive PT750H 3channel amp (4 ohms= 100x2, 250x1, 2 ohms= 200x2, 500x1) You lose fading capability but most people never fade anyways.

Polk Audio is comming out with a 5 channel as well for the new year.

I will have to check the Boston out. I thought about going with a 3 ch. amp and not worrying about the fading but what I am planning on doing is using a set of components up front that have a 2ohm load, then use simple 2 ways in the back doors that have a 4 ohm load. If I do this the fronts will be louder giving me better imaging for the front passengers atleast without leaving the back seat passengers without sound.

For the subs I am probably just going to use either 1 ED 8 or 1 ED 10 as they work great in small sealed enclosures and don't need 600+ watts. I am not going for something to shake the neighbors house, but something that sounds better than factory.

hit me up on the boston if you like. Here is one I installed in baseball player Joe Randa's jeep wrangler under the seat. Entire system was Boston Acoustics. His home theater system was Boston Acoustics and he was excited to find out that I could duplicate the nice sound with the same equipment in his jeep.

The boston amps are very low profile to fit under seats and the controls are on the top with a nice cover that screws down over them.

That was a cool amp. Good enough to run a light weight 10" sub. It's a two year model but I might grab a couple of those for customers. The price is right for the car dealers.

Its okay... If you run really low power spks. I was never set on the amp. But do what works for you. 35-40W per channel is 15-20 more than stock... 150W is enough to run midbass...

My opinion is look for something with a little more ****. But aint my car...

I have this Kicker amp, I am very happy with it. Line level ins are good if you keep stock head unit and I like the remote bass control as well with stock head unit. Whatever you get, search for it all over the internet and you should find a good price.

I have the Eclipse XA5000 amp. Only problem with it is where to mount it. Only place i could really deal with was under rear passenger. Had to take out jack for it to fit. 2 screws drilled through floor to secure it in place. Have it connected to a Kenwood DNX7100 and Polk Audio DB 570 speakers in all doors running at 4 ohm. Dam nice amp clean pure crisp sound. Also leaves me 300 watts @ 4 ohm for sub. Just waiting for Subbox to show up. A seller on ebay is selling these for $262 bucks not a bad deal.
