8 ohm sub on a 4 ohm amp??

Alright well I installed my new MTX box with the JL 12w1 that I had laying around. Upon pulling it out of the my old box (2 JL2w1 in a mountaineer), I realized that it was 8 ohms...I had wired them down to 4 ohms last time.

The amp I have is 2 channels rated at 300 watts RMS at 4 ohms 12.5 v. I just tossed it all in tonight and didn't tune it. I don't know the formulas at all but if I'm not mistaken my amp is basically going to put out about 150 watts RMS at 8 ohms and since I'm going up in ohms it's actually a lighter load for the amp...am I on the right course?

Any thoughts?????

Correct.

However, if you "..wired them down to 4 ohms last time" why can you parallel wire each voice coil again and bring it back to 4OHM?

In the last set up I had 2 single voice coil 8 ohm subs. This time I'm only using one sub with a single voice coil rated at 8 ohms. Sorry, I didn't word that very well last time.
