more power or not?
more power or not?
Wondering if I could get some opinions on whether or not you think I should need more power to run my system? If so what type and brand should I look at?
Here is what I have:
JL stealthbox w/ 10W3v2-D6 sub wired 3 ohm mono
JL 250/1 amp for sub
JL TR570-CXi for rear running off HU
JL XR650-CSi components
JL 300/2 or 300/4 amp for components (don't have yet. which one?)
Kenwood excelon x591 HU
Thanks for any help

That looks like a good setup. I take it from your description that you are going to use the second amp to power only the front components. In that case both amps are going to give you the same amount of power 150W x 2. The 300/2 is a 150Wx2 and the 300/4 is a 75Wx4 that is bridgeable to 150Wx2.
You should decide based on the price of the two amps and whether you will ever want to use the extra channels of the 300/4.
Also you should look at the power requirements of your speakers. I think the XR's are rated for 75W continous. So you may not need to send them 150W. each.

Thank you for responding. I guess my question was not clear enough after reading it again, but you actually answered a question I didn't know I had until I seen your answer. Thank you. I know next to nothing about this stuff and am learning.
What I originally meant to ask, was do you think that I will need to run a capacitor or power cell or better alternator to run this setup? Also do you know what the Big 3 is? I've seen people refer to it but am clueless.
Again thanks for your help.
you will be fine with your stock alt, batt, and wiring. you could do the big 3 if you wanted but I doubt if you will notice a difference. those amps are going to put a large enough draw on your electrical system to notice. And you wont need a capacitor or an extra battery. Get the stuff installed, keep it neat clean, and use large enough cables for power and ground and you will be fine. Run a 4 awg power back from the battery to a distribution block and then split to two 8 awg power wires, and you can run an 8 awg ground to each amp. this will be plenty big to carry the current those amps will need
