Arc Audio vs Rockford Fosgate

So, I'm on the fence now about my amp choice.

Looking at the Arc 4050-xxk (50x4@4ohms) and a Fosgate P450.4 (60x4@4ohms) that Crutchfield has on special at $240.

I'm a big audiophile person while at home, so audio quality, clarity, imaging, detail, are all very important to me. I prefer a clean detailed NEUTRAL sonic character from my amps, which is why I run an NAD T973 in my primary listening room.

Is the Arc worth the extra coin? (I haven't actually priced one yet, but seems like they're just under $400 new) Or rather, are the newer fosgate's over the last few years that much noticeably worse than those of nearly a decade ago?

What do you all think?

E.

Go with the ARC Audio...some serious amps there. Much better than the Fosgate stuff.

My favorite amp brand of all time is Arc Audio. There is a used 4050XXK on ebay right now. Arc is cream of the crop. One of the absolute best amps.

You can't even come close to comparing the two. Putting Fosgate in the same phrase or sentence with Arc audio is doing it a dis-service

I had a 9 year old Punch 45 fail and RockfordFosgate replaced it at no charge, they didn't even ask for a receipt...but that was a few years ago before the internet fraud stuff got big.

heheh.

I forgot I even started this thread.

Yeah, shortly after posting this, I just said, 'screw it.' and called my Arc audio dealer.

FD4150 is on the way.

(Should read, STILL on the way....)

Fedex has been screwing us BIG time since Friday, when it was supposed to have been delivered. My install schedule is ALL horked up. It was supposed to go in on Friday night. Then Saturday. Then last night. Now, it's 'maybe tonight.' I've decided to stop holding out for it, and learned to start doing the other stuff I need to get ready for the weekend instead. (ran the wiring even without the amp on Friday, installed my CB gear in the truck on Saturday, and will be washing truck tonight instead of tomorrow, and if/whenever the amp comes, will try to install after the truck's bath, otherwise it goes in tomorrow night after work.)

ugh. I know I shouldn't complain, being it's such a trivial thing to be complaining about getting an Arc FD4150, but damn... it's really been pissing me off. When you lay out five and a half bills for a product, you expect it to arrive when it's promised!

Who started ARC? I think they have something to do with the famous Zapco founders.

Robert Zeff, the creator of ZAPCO, man who designed all the Zapco amps, designed the Arc amps too...

He designed the boards in a few other amps too...

He designed the new Arc SE4000 too. That thing is incredible. 4,000 watts at 1 ohm. PasMag just tested it.
