I'm looking for an amp in the 2k watt range at 2Ω to drive two SI Mags with 2Ω DVCs. If money weren't an issue, then I'd just go get a Zapco 9.0 and call it a day. But, I'm not looking to cheap out either. I'd like something at $1000 or less. I know that leaves a lot of options open, but that's intentional. Let me know what amps you guys like and why, other than just money. What factors do you think are most important(damping,efficiency,reputation,THD,S/N Ratio...etc)?

Second, can you have a 2500 watt system(after adding front comp amp) without adding a HO alternator and/or 2nd battery if you do the big 3?

I think you should be able to find a used 9.0 for a grand or less...

When I was looking around I looked a little at Kicker and Memphis, they had a few things that did 2k ish watts at 2 ohm.

I looked into getting two sub amps too. I found a lot more options by getting two amps that did 800-1200 watts at 1 ohm, than trying to fine one huge one...

 

Thanks for the reply, Bartak. I've been keeping my eye on ebay for a 9.0, but it's hard to find one that has the serial numbers and wasn't modified for competition, both of which void the warranty. I've been eying the Kicker 2500.1, but haven't checked out Memphis, yet. Two amps is anoption, but that'd be three with the front comps. Might get a little cramped unless I mount the crossovers somewhere else.

Anybody got any opinions on Digital Designs, Sundown, American Bass, Audison, Hifonics, IA, US Amps, Arc Audio(d chime in here ), Diamond, JBL, Planet Audio, Crossfire, Massive Audio or any others?

 

Yeah, you dont see many C2Ks, and when you do there is always something wierd about them.
Two sub amps would start getting cramped, depends on their size though. Some of those 2000 watt amps are huge, and you could easily find two smaller sized 900 or so watt amps that take up the same space, or even less.
All depends on the amps though.

The Memphis I was looking at a little was the MOJO. Does 2k wrms @ 2 ohm, and you can get them for WELL under 1000 bucks.

Sundown has the 1500, but like Ive said before, at .5 ohm, that would have your electrical system in pain. Not sure what Audison has, would be worth looking into them though. IA 20.1 on a pair of Mags seems like a popular choice. US Amps USA2000 is one I looked at a little. Crossfire has the VR2000, Im not sure if that does power at 1 or 2 ohm though. JBL BPX2000.1 CROWN does 2000+ at 2 ohm I think.

With Arc and Diamond I think you would have to go with two amps if your wanting to get around 2000 watts...

I think I'm going to look at scoring a Memphis 4KD(probably around $650) or maybe an older Memphis 2000D or maybe Kicker 2500.1. I gotta pull the trigger cause the second SI Mag just showed up!
