enough power?
ok i am going to get 2 infinity perfect 10.1 subs, rated at 75-350 watts RMS each. i am leaning toward a rockford fosgate punch p4002 2-channel amp that puts out 100 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms. my friend says this is enough power to make it "slam", but im not sure. what do you think?
If you bridge that amp, you can get 400 watts out of it at 4 ohm-so 200 watts a sub. Thats IF you get either the SVC 2 ohm, or DVC 4 ohm versions of those subs, so you can wire them for a final load of 4 ohm.
Will it work? Yes. Will it 'slam'? doubtfull. Two 10's with 400 watts between them is not my definition of slam anyway, but it depends what you want and are used to.
If you want to be heard outside and make your eyes vibrate so much you cant focus on signs/tree/etc, then your probably not going to get that. You'll most likely get some noticable bump, capable of rattling some panels/vibrating the mirror pretty decent, that blends in with the rest of the music volume pretty decent.
Youll know its there, but the person in the car beside you at teh stop light most likely wont.
All depends what you call 'slam"

If thats the amp Im thinking of (guarantee you it is, see them in WalMart all the time
) its only like 360 or so watts RMS. Smaller than the Rockford one your buddy suggested...
They are nice though.............if used as boat anchors, door stops, paper wieghts; that kind of stuff.

Lol yeah. Wattage ratings can be pretty misleading if you just glance over them.
Do you have the subs yet? Or are you waiting to find an amp before you get them? If you already have them, are they dual voice coil or single voice coil, and 2 or 4 ohm? If you dont have them yet, that opens up amp choices quite a bit.
Reasonably priced... $250 or less???

i do not have the subs yet, i am trying to pick out everything i will need before i buy it. yes i consider reasonably priced $250 or less. as you can tell i have little knowledge about car audio, so thanks for all of your help. i could always go with 1 sub, i am looking more for SQ and not volume. but any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hmm, well....Zapco 750.2 or 500.1 MIGHT be a possibility in that price range, old PPI (A600 would be nice for those), JL 500/1, Diamond D3600.1 or D5600.1.
Few suggestions to get you looking around. Those Zapco's and the JL might be pushing it price wise. I know where you can get a D5 600.1
