Amp Location in a 2006 SuperCrew

All,

Im sure this question has come up a million times. I looked all over and coulndt find the answer. Got a new 2006 Supercrew and need to know the best placment for 2 amplifiers and a sub. I already have one amp (Alpine MRD 500 - Mono) that I mounter under the rear seat and a custom sub that was mounted under the rear bench (Single 8" MTX).

My main question is where to place a second 4-channel amp...? Im probably going to get the Alpine MRV-F545:

http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...model=MRV-F545

Is this even feasible to mount a second amp in the cab somewhere? Also, Im thinking of getting the Alpine 9861 head unit:

http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...model=DVA-9861

What do ya think?

Thanks!

You can mount your amps on the back wall behind the back seat, and get a sub box from www.supercrewsound.com or www.musicmooseaudio.com and put that under your back seat.

Amp location

I already purchased the sub box from Supercrew, I used it in my last truck, and have it under the rear bench. WHat about heat dissipation from both amps behind the rear seat?? Im really worried about venting/heat dissipation problems.

Thanks!

should have no problems with overheating the amps if they are good quality! If they are fan cooled you definatly should not have a problem with overheating

Amp Location

Gloferdude,

Hats off to you for posting such good pics VERY HELPFUL!!!!

Looks like we have a similar setup. Ill try to post some pics of my truck so you get a better idea of what Im dealing with. One question: Did you have ample room for mounting the amps on the back wall? I am thinking of getting a 4 channel amp and am hoping it isnt too big.

Thanks so much!

glickmpb, it all depends on dimensions of the 4 channel amp that you want to use. Im using an oldschool Soundstream MC300 that has the following dimensions of (W)14 1/5" X (H)2 3/5" X (D) 8 1/2". This amp is mounted towards the lower passenger side of the real wall, and I have no problems with clearance. And if you did come across and clearance issues with your 4 channel amp, you could always use the open space under your rear seat. Post some pictures once you get your install completed. If you need any assistance, send me an email.

You should have tons of room

I have a 2004 Supercab and can fit a 10 inch sub and 2 very big amps all under the back seat. You just have to take your time and get creative.

Why

Why would you mess with taking off the backseat?? There is a ton of room under the seat.

I have a question for the guys with amps behind the seat. How did you mount the amp? Did you just use metal screw into the back wall or did you mount to a piece of wood that was mounted to the back wall? Also if you did mount to back wall how did you deal with having holes in your cab?

There were already places for me to screw into on my back wall, but there is no wood or anything back there. I had to bolt two small pieces of wood on myself to put an amp on the back wall.

This is what I was faced with when I took my back seat off and removed the insulation material to get to the metal. I circled where the open spots are that I mounted the two boards. If you don't have the power rear window you won't have the big motor in the center of your back wall, which will give you a lot more options. Some people have even flipped the motor for more space. I'm not that brave though.

There's a lot more space than you think back there, but if you've got a little extra money you may want to put some sound deadening on the wall because I didn't and I had to go back and do it because the vibrations were pretty noticeable, do the doors as well because it makes a world of difference. Good luck
