amp in protect mode.
i was on my wayhome listening to some music. well i got home turned the truck off and went inside. later i came out to go to the store and little light on my base remote is on. it says the amp is in protect mode, i never adjusted the volume or anything from the time i went inside and go back in my truck. i have tried turning the truck off and then back on, messing with the base remote and nothing. can any one help me.
sorry for the long story, i just tried to tell everything in one post.

First thing I would do is check all your connections, and check wires for shorts. Try disconnecting the sub then turn on the amp to see if it goes out of protect.
If nothing changes there, get ahold of a volt meter, and hook it to your amps outputs (with the subs disconnected) and put it on the AC 200V setting, and crank some music with a lot of bass, or better yet run a test tone through your cd player, you should be getting a voltage reading. If not, something is wrong with the amp (dead inside, signal is being lost before it gets to the amp, or the HU had a problem and is sending no output to the amp)
If you are getting a good reading, then it is something with the sub. Improper wiring or a blown sub. Stick the Volt Meter on the subs terminals, put the volt meter on the OHM setting, and you should getting a reading VERY close to the subs rated ohm (within like 1 ohm). If not, someting is wrong with the sub.
I would just give that stuff a try, and let us know what you find out from that. If you need any help with any of it, just ask and we can explain/help more.

Your wanting to stick the DVM on the HU preouts to test them?
To do that, just stick your DMM on 200V AC...however, its darn near impossible to get a reading off your HU preouts...
Are you not getting a reading from your amps speaker outputs?
