8" Punch 2, Now Amp

I'm looking at add a little bass to 04' lariat. I'm not in to Rap or looking to impress the chick next to me at red light. I just want to complete the sound, which I replaced the door speakers.

I was looking at this speaker:
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...3&locale=en_US
Which I found for $59.99

8" Punch Stage 2
8 ohm SVC subwoofer with parabolic injection molded Polypropylene cone
2" aluminum voice coil former
Insulated 16 AWG tinsel leads
Linear spider
2" excursion
30 oz motor structure
Cold rolled vented steel basket with romovable motor cover
8 AWG compression terminals
Optimized for small sealed enclosures
200 watts RMS 400 watts peak
Mounting depth 4.0"

Now looking for an amp. Was told that I should get one that is a total of 250 watt or so, but to knock it down; helps with the heat. Which make sense to me.... Not looking to spend a lot of $$ maybe around $100 to $150... Any suggestions?

Thanks!

One thing I would consider is a different ohm sub. Using an 8 ohm sub, any amp that puts out say 200 watts at 4 ohm is only going to put out 100 at 8 ohm. You would need a 400 watt amp at 4 ohm. I would try and go with either a single 4 ohm or better a dual 4 ohm. That way you could wire it to 2 ohm and find an amp that does maybe 125 watts @ 4 ohm but does 250 @ 2ohm. More bang for the buck at 2 ohm than 8 ohm.

Yeah, I took your advise and went with the 4 ohm version of that speaker,
and going to match this amp with it.

good choice 2 channel full range capable amp gives you a lot of flexibility if you decide to upgrade later. Use it for sub/subs, a pair of full range speakers, or even bridged to a full range speaker.

Thanks! Once I get the box built and everything installed, I'll post some pics... Going to keep it clean; I take customers out for lunches and stuff.
