I would always suggest using a quality cable made for car like 97f250 said cause of the environment. As far as blind tests and all that, the one thing thats never mentioned is when the cheapy bites you in the a$$ and is defective out of the box you never know until the job is done and you turn on(or not ) the radio. I'll spend a couple of extra bucks knowing I probably won't have to redo my work.

You are absolutely correct. It makes no sense to skimp and save a few bucks on cables at the outset of a job, when they will ultimately "cost" more in the long run. The same is true for any audio gear. There are reasons that different pieces of gear that "seem" similar are not similar at all. While some brands can command a higher price(i.e., no discounts, fewer sale prices) because of customer demand, that brand will not blatantly risk putting themselves out of business by pricing their gear unreasonably. So, that Pyramid amp down at the flea market that says it is 75x4 into 4 ohms and costs $79 is NOT the same in any way, shape, or form as a JLAudio 300/4 that may cost $400. Everything is relative, even down to the cables, which, in my book, are very critical links in the chain.

but the shielding is a must.[/QUOTE]

My Scheshe(no shielding) played lower than the home audio RCAs. But home audio skips if it is up to loud but it is not due to cd player, cd or amp overheating..........

I'm guessing you mean Scosche, but the rest of this I have no idea what you mean. If you mean that the Scosche cables allowed the system to attain lower notes, that's very, very unlikely, check that, next to impossible. And if there was "skipping" of a CD in some form or fashion, it is not due to any kind of cable or wire, OR overheating

No with Scosche it didnt play as loud. When I say skipping I mean pauseing from time to time. I am pretty sure it is the wire, I just dont want to buy another one and end up like the Scosche................
