This might not be good?

Yesterday after a LONG wait i finally got my subs and amp installed. I have a fosgate p6002 amp pushing 2 older jl audio w6 subs that are DVC 6 0hm subs so my amp is pushing a 1.5 ohm load. The amp is 2 ohm stable and ive heard that .5 of an ohm doesnt make much of a difference. The system hits so hard and clear but when i get it up real loud it appears that that little "protect light" comes on. It doesnt stay on though but it blinks with the music. This being a new RF amp it has the light up logo on it and the black tint around it is a little scuffed up so im hoping it might be a figure of my imagination. I was thinking if this amp was really going into protect mode that it would sound bad or even shutoff but ive held it wide open for long intervals and it still pounds. So guys am I seeing things or could .5 ohm really make this amp do that.

That amp is propablly stable down to 1.5 ohm, but only to a certain extent. Where are your gains, and how loud was the volume? Usually, i thought protect modes shut the amps off temporarily.

The actual speaker load will be higher than that at most frequencies. On ported boxes the impeadance curve swings low below the tuned frequency and sealed boxes rarely ever play low enough for it to be a problem. Being an RF amp I wouldn't worry they will take a beating.
