What kinda amp should I get?

I have 2 original JL Audio W6 12 inch subs which are dual 6 ohm and im needing an amp but have yet to deicde what kind that I should get. I have no idea how large of amp that I need to supply an efficient amount of power to these subs. Whats best to get.....a mono amp and run it to both subs or just a class D 2 channel amp. I have a budget of around 250 dollars and I dont mind buying something used from ebay so please any suggestions on what kind of amp to invest in would be appreciated.

JL 500/1 would be a good fit for those subs. 250 watts per sub would be pretty close. Thing with dual 6 ohm is getting the load right. With a single amp, you will either be presenting a 6 ohm load or 1.5 ohm load. The 500/1 will do rated power at 1.5 ohm. Most sub amps are stable to 2 ohm. They would probably run down to 1.5 but, might get a little hotter or might not run that low.

Sorry for rambling, just my .02.

Might be a little hard pressed to find one for $250, maybe on ebay, but I also recommend the 500/1 from JL Audio.

You could also try this Hifonics...

trust me when i say this dude.... Elemental Designs....sure...i dont think uve heard of them...but they are one of the best out there rite now for speakers, amps, and subs...you buy factory direct so your going to get the best possible price! try the NINe.1 amp....i have there products and im VERY impressed with them and so is my brother and take a mans word...he knows his speakers, amps, and subs. like peoples cars are showing up everywhere in car/truck magazines with E Designs products.... there website is www.edesignaudio.com and a NINe.1 amp is 1000 watt's for 350 OR what alot of reviews say is "the perfect subwoofer amp" is the NINe.2X which is what i have for 265...NO JACKED UP PRICES=BUYING FACTORY DIRECT

ED does have some alright stuff for a good price.

Only other amp I can think of at the moment that hasnt been said is the Diamond D3 600.1. Rated at 600wrms at 1 ohm. Youll probably see that power at 1.5 ohm. At least 500 anyway. Ive seen them on Ebay for around 200 new.

Well I really wanted a JL amp to match the subs but considering the fact that there amps are ridiculously expensive I think thats pretty much out of the question. I have came up with a good idea though. I can most like find two rockford fosgate punch 300.1 amps on ebay for like 200 bucks. There 1 ohm stable and they push out right at what my subs RMS at which is 300, let me know what you guys think about the idea and how would you go about hooking up 2 amps.

THE ORIGINAL MAKER OF CAR AMPLIFIERS IS NOT KNOWN FOR THEIR AMPS, you might want to recheck your sources.

Rockford use to make great amps, but the new ones are not that great. Actually, all of Rockfords products have went down hill. also, another brand to take a look at that i have started carrying is Ample Audio. I know nothing about their subs, but amps are strong and under rated. You can prob get good deals on them as well.

He needs an amp that will push a 1.5. load, im not sure if the kicker will drop down to 1.5 and still run consistently.
