Remote Turn on
Remote Turn on
Wondering if you guys can help me out, what is everyone tapping into to supply their amp Remote turn on terminal with power?
Is there a simple wire coming out of the back of the radio or are you taping into another power source?
This is for an 06 FX4 with the 6 disc cd changer
Thanks alot

Unless the new radios have changed (which I highly doubt it) there is no turn on wire coming from the factory radio.
On my 99 there is a black wire with a red stripe that is hot whenever the key is on, thats what I tapped into.
Pretty much any wire like that will work. There are tons down by the fuse panel, a few behind the radio, etc.
Your amp will be on whenever the key is on, which if its a big deal for you you can always stick a switch on it.

When I was running an amp with the factory deck I just spliced the remote wire into the power wire to the factory cd player. The only downfall to that is that the amp will be on whenever the radio is on.. So if you dont have your truck started then the amp will drain the battery.
I have since put in Pioneer aftermarket and spliced into the remote wire from the Pioneer harness and I wired in a toggle switch so that I can turn the amp off and still listen to the radio without draining the battery. I ended up drilling a hole in the coin holder and mounting the switch in the coin holder.. Easy access and its out of the way...

all that i have ever done is run a toggle off the amp itself, run one side of toggle to remote turn on and the other side to the power. this way in case the cops around are dikheads you can turn the system off while they are around!
Heres the easiest way to do it. Pull out your radio, unplug the large plug on the drivers side, and look at the face of the plug that has tiny numbers on it. You want to tap into the wire that is going to the #2 terminal. This is a delay wire, it will turn off your amp and sub when your radio goes off if you open your door or leave it on for an extended period of time so it will not kill your battery. Hope this helps, I cannot remember the color of the wire at the moment, but you should be able to notice it. Its very simple. Hope this helps.
